SHit yeah. Those guys are fucking talented. I started out with Images and Words and was hooked then and there. John Petrucci is great. So is Mike Portnoy on drums. Their albums are excellent. For favorites, I would go with Images and Words, Awake, and Train of Thought.
I borrowd the Live at Budokhan DVD from a mate and was completely amazed at not only how talented they are, but the whole mix of metal and prog. Shit hot, and every member in that band is a god at what they do.
Dream Theater rocks!
I got Images & Words, 6DOIT & Once in A Live Time.
I'd love to see em' live....altough i've seen the Budokan DVD & it is fucking great!
"With a rate of fire of over 20 rounds per second, the IMI Micro Uzi is almost as fast as Yngwie Malmsteen, and 25.4 times more musical"
Finally a good music thread besides all the Roth / CVH threads!!!
Dream Theater is THE shit today. One of the FEW shining examples that shows someone, somewhere still writes great music. If you do not have the Live At Budokan DVD, run...don't walk...to get it.
BTW (NG, you listening?), Mike Portnoy is the best drummer out there right now! Bar none! He has a killer DVD out from the Budokan tour.

I heard their tribute to Led Zep' 4 or 5 years ago. Great stuff.
Then I saw them play their own stuff on stage in 2002 in Lyon. How bored I got... A really disappointing gig. I think they'll only please guitar players.

Well, John Petrucci is a guitarist's guitarist and Dream Theater's prog rock won't please everyone, I guess.
