At this year's Winter NAMM Convention (National Association of Music Merchants), the display that stole the show was easily Dean Guitars and their incredible Dimebag Darrell tribute.

Dean's display included: Dimebag's razor necklace, his blue lightning guitar, hand-written notes from Dime to Dean guitars, inlcuding prototype sketches, his stage outfit he wore on the 2004 'Devastation Across the Nation' tour, a huge video screen playing a variety of funny clips and music videos and a large cardboard cutout of Dimebag that sat high atop the display as he "looked" down onto the massive crowds that congregated.

Damageplan members Vinnie Paul, Pat Lachman and Bobzilla signed autographs, and guitarists Jerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains) and Scott Ian (Anthrax) also joined the booth to autograph merchandise.

Below are photos taken of the display. Photos of the autograph session can be viewed at Dean Guitars.

I was there also, still am, getting all the post show biz done and catching up on a little sleep, uggg,……go every year. What did you think of the show, dude?

Didn’t know what I was going to think of Dean Guitar’s Dimebag Tribute, as to whether they were just using his death to capitalize off the deal. However, they did a good job and it was cool, imo.

The show was good, but nothing out of the ordinary to "wow" me. A couple of cool designs and gadgets, the basement was filled with even more wannabes than usual. What did suprise me was the "scaled back" nature of both Fender and Gibson's presence this year. Business bad for them?
