Was Sammy in the drivers seat all along. The reason is:

1. I hate saying this but Van Hagar had success when Dave departed in 1985.
2. When Sammy left in 96, the Dave reunion (if you can call it a reunion, more like a set up) was short lived and was not a given a chance because of egos. (Dave and the bros are back to throwing insults at each other) The MTV fiasco did not help either!!
3. Gary Cherone as the new singer was a bust. So was the 98 tour and CD sales. So now the Dave so called reunion failed and Cherone actually replacing Spammy( Remember the bros never had any intentions of rehiring Dave) was a bomb!
4. Dave and VH try reconvene in 2000 but once Dave's lawyers and VH's lawyers intervene, the party ended!!
5.In 2003 I believe Dave rightfully sues the Van Halen Camp for royaties. This is what put the final nails in the coffin!!
6.Also Michael Anthony playing bass with Sammy on the Sam and Dave tour!!

So with all of this happening Sammy is on the sidelines the whole time. It was inevitable for a Van Hagar reunion. The bros in some ways had no other choice!!...and a bad one it is!!

Most of that success was inherited from what the classic lineup had spent 10 years building. No surprise Van Hagar record sales are a downward trajectory.

2. When Sammy left in 96, the Dave reunion (if you can call it a reunion, more like a set up) was short lived and was not a given a chance because of egos. (Dave and the bros are back to throwing insults at each other) The MTV fiasco did not help either!!

Sammy was ousted by Ed, who had already been in contact with Roth prior to showing Sam the door.

Can't disagree with that one

4. Dave and VH try reconvene in 2000 but once Dave's lawyers and VH's lawyers intervene, the party ended!!

Still unsure of what actually happened in 2000.

5.In 2003 I believe Dave rightfully sues the Van Halen Camp for royaties. This is what put the final nails in the coffin!!

Yeah, but rightfully so. A classic reunion would be short-lived at best, whereas the classic royalties keep generating. Never understood this convoluted logic (not implying that's in play on this thread starter) that dictates Dave ruined his chances of reuniting because he sued for what is rightfully his...that somehow he's the dickhead in this scenario and he should have backed off, therefore softening the Van Halens and smooth the way for re-entry into the group:
a) Not like Roth was asking for anything he wasn't due.
b) Money is money.
c) The Van Halens should have involved him in the
royalty renegotiations from the get-go, regard-
less of whatever future Roth had with Van Halen.
d) These back-door shenanegans don't speak well
for an equitable payoff for all four classic members
if a reunion should ensue. Ties into greed and ego.
e) Fuck Ed and Al.

6.Also Michael Anthony playing bass with Sammy on the Sam and Dave tour!!

Mike wasn't even in the equation by the time the Sam and Dave tour was underway. He wasn't even in the band for all intents and purposes.

So with all of this happening Sammy is on the sidelines the whole time. It was inevitable for a Van Hagar reunion. The bros in some ways had no other choice!!...and a bad one it is!!

Getting Sam back was simply the path of least resistance. A short-term solution that made them some money in 2004, but killed the Van Hagar name for promoters down-the-line. A bad investment, no doubt.

Van Halen is done. 1996 was the year it could have been revived: best shot at a future worth mentioning. Blown opportunity.

If Sammy was in the drivers seat alll along, why did Dave record three songs with them in 2000?

You responded to a question about 2000.

Godfather....you missed the point.

VH put a greatest hits CD out in 1996, not in the year 2000.

DLR7884
What a fucking stupid thread this is.

Diabolical. :P

Is he in the driver's seat now? The reunion was a bust as were sales of the greatest hits package. Furthermore, Van Hagar CD sales declined with each release.

Timelines, situational bullshit, it's all a figurative load of crap.

Roy couldn't even claim "backseat driver" status.

There's one place to find any point of relevance regarding hagar's cuntribution or ideological effect regarding Van Halen's timeline.....

THE FUCKING LINKS.

I don't give a flying fuck about his time in the rumble seat or anything else the ass-fucked gnome had the pleasure or displeasure of doing when applied to the discussion of Van Halen.

....Unless it's some revolting shit about him being decapitated, falling into a hog farm chipper/shredder, getting both of his legs cut off on a railroad track, etc, etc.

:D

The only driving seat Sammy controls is the custom one he and Mikey had made up, the one that allows Mikey to lay on his stomach with his legs in reverse stirrups.

Listen dumbfuck....reread what you wrote.....you said "That was a ploy to sell the greatest hits cd!!!" in response to the question "If Sammy was in the drivers seat alll along, why did Dave record three songs with them in 2000?"
