As you can tell, I'm a noob around here. First, thanks for a great site to check out as a DLR fan who's confused on how Hagar ever made a dime in his lifetime.

I have always loved classic Van Halen and since the birth of my son last year, I've been playing a ton of classic VH/DLR videos to entertain my kid. And so, it's been bringing back the memories of my 80s youth which finally resulted in me coming here to browse the forums.

After surfing the forums here and other places, I ran into some pictures of the recent EVH who literally scurred the fuck out of me when I realized that Keith Richards has a more youthful appearance in 2004/5. Mind you, I haven't seen anything on EVH for about... oh 15 years so this was a mind blower to see how Father Time has owned him. Somewhere, I read that EVH became an alcoholic and Valerie has left him. So this finally leads me to: Is it truly over... is there even a .05% chance that EVH and DLR will ever get past any personal issues to record again? Or shall I even attempt to beat this dead horse around here. Again, I'm new here even if I casually registered here over a year ago (i think).

Back to my original question to which, there is a more basic issue at hand... can EVH even play the guitar anymore? This may sound absurd but theres a certain EVH photo I've seen here and again in the forums that has literally terrified the kid in me who absolutely thought he was the greatest guitar player to ever put pick to string.

Side note, I hope his Vegas thing works out for Dave and I'm excited that he is still a show to behold. I will be at the next show I can attend wherever Dave goes.

I was 16 when Hagar signed up with Van Halen. I was suspended from high school for a week when I heard the news. I went apeshit. I still feel that angst toward that clown (and the rest of VH who agreed to it).

Anyway.. it feels good to be here.

Hahaha, that's fuckin awesome, you rule.

The whole Becker thing is so sad though, with such a phenom losing his ability to do what he does so well. A friend of mine said, upon me telling him the Becker story, it makes him want to just "give God the finger".

Welcome to the site, bro - good post. And you're right - when Hagar started making wampum as a musician, he rose waaaaaay above his level of incompetence. He should've peaked managing a department store. :D

I hate to tell you this but, Jason Becker will never be able to play guitar again...he has had Lou Gehrig's Disease for years and is paralyzed. He did an interview for us a couple of years ago and he typed the whole thing with his mouth. The man has an incredible spirit.

dusk884 !

Welcome mate ! Great first post. Your perceptions are correct, on the
recent tour EVH had problems with songs such as "Unchained" and
"Running with the Devil". Songs you would think he would nail in his
sleep. He's definately not anyware near top form. The Phony Cheronie
tour had him much closer to his former greatness.

But what did he have to inspire him this time around ? A reunion with
Sammy, arranged by his control freak brother ???
Go on Ed, take the money and run !!
Ed is obviously struggling with the alcohol. His face is starting to show
it. Lets hope he gets that intervention Dave told us was required, two
years ago. His brother sure as hell doesnt care enough to arrange
this.

I feel so much for Jason Becker. I had a bad accident just over 12 months ago. (A lot of you would know about it). I felt like the saddest
sack of shit on earth when I literally couldnt play my guitar.
Well, for me, bones heal, muscles and tendons eventually repair.
I can now play everything again, with the only downside being a bit
of pain if I play for a long time.

To be such a gifted guitarist, and have it (and your life) ripped away
from you, I cant begin to imagine the strength you would need.
Jason Becker is an inspiration thats for sure.

Jason, you Rock man !

Ed can play two things these days:

1) spin the bottle w/ this last joke of a band and...

2) He can play w/ himself, although due to being in a constant alcoholic state, even that is questionable.

Unfortunately, the only thing Ed uses the guitar for these days is as a dildo.

I don't know about Ed but Vallerie is single and she has a shitload of Ed's money. As Ed continues to evolve into the guy from Tales From The Crypt some bloak we never heard of is banging the former Mrs. Van Halen and enjoying the spoils of Ed's music career. The talent that made all that money and made Valerie wet between the legs is as dead as Ed's right now. It's safe to say it's over. By the way Kato, does Valleries pussy still smell good?

Kato ? Is that a hybrid between Cato and Katydid ????

Am sure Ed can still play, but hasn't come up with anything worth hearing in 2 decades.

Ed and Dave may well hook up somewhere down the line, but as far as CVH getting back together and doing anything other than a prefunctionary, greatest hits tour cash grab...uh-uh. Not gonna happen. And even a concert-by-numbers scenario is a long shot at this point.
