Thank you.
Thy will be done...
That would be a great fucking Idea, Phil. The first you've had in a long while. Keep drinking whatever it is in that bottle. Maybe the good IDEAS will keep flowing. :bottle:
I applaud you.
I really do.
Then the Europeons can spend more than 2 to 3% of their GDP on Defense. We're protecting their sorry asses now.
They can also start devoting some Euros to R&D for Weapons Development. Hardly "Nada" on that front right now.
Yeah, kick the US military out....Let the Francs, Krauts, Serbs, et al. pay their own way.
BTW - the EU is not a govt, but an economic consortium...or so they claim.

BBB, what economic consortium has it's own laws and army, navy, and air force and space force?
Hmmm?
Shape up, BBB.
It's later than you think.
P
I agree to a certain extent. They gotta get their ducks in a row because all member states like the UK don't want to yield their national sovereignty to the EU. Who can blame them?
This Euro-Army the FROGS and Krauts want to get going.
What about NATO?
I guess we'll just shitcan that alliance, huh?
We'll see.
Anyway, France will always be the bitch of the EU alliance. Serving wine and cheese to the PLAYERS (UK, Germany, Poland, Italy).

Wow BigBlunder, what an incredibly simple minded and dated ideas you have. Actually the Germans are rated as one of the most effective Armies in the world despite the fact they draft peaceniks, and the French are not that far behind. They've operated a joint brigade for over 15 years now and seem to get along well, for the most part.
I agree with you to a certain extent, we need to gradually withdraw from Europe, but coming from a guy that wants to send them to Iraq, well, maybe we can learn something from the EU.
Also, I don't understand your point of pride that we spend so much on Nat'l Defense and get so little back. We have an AVF Army and Marine Corp, we spend more on defense than our next six potential adversaries combined, and yet we still have had our ass handed to us to some extent by a group of Baathist insurgents and terrorists that hijacked airliners. I don't know BBB, I'm actually a little embarrassed that we spend 6-7% of our GDP on defense (over $400 billion yearly) and we really get so little in return. I mean the French and German Armies are not really that much smaller than ours at this point, are they?
I say we start charging for our services if we are to remain there. The EU obviously has the resources to provide their own and do. Effecient they may be, but untested just the same.
Nick, you almost have a point. Our civil defense has been lacking, considering all the money we pay. However, European countries have had similar disasters as we have in the past, let's not pretend they didn't occur.
The point of pride is that we subsidize them for political reasons and those reasons are becoming harder and harder to justify. Germany has grown strong under our wing, that's a fact. The fact also is that they don't need our help anymore. They can afford to PAY For it if they want it. Otherwise, they should defend themselves as the EU. You want your Social Security paid for as is? There might be a good place for libs to start...

I see I hit a sore spot with you, didn't I CupCake?
By "ducks in a row," I meant their political situation, not their military one. I'll accept your apology anytime now.
Nowhere in any of my posts have I said I wanted to send any of the troops from Europe to Iraq.
Your assessment of the French is erroneous...look at the Congo. Nobody cares to look at the heavy handedness they have wielded there. After all, they are just killing a bunch of Africans, aren't they?
I think your assessment of the return of the American Armed Forces is also bogus. I think we get a great return from our military. Maybe it should be better. Maybe there's a reason the Army kicked you out.
