Going to cross post this here in House of Music, this is such a big deal.

This is Part II of a huge auction of Jimi Hendrix’s possessions, 35 years after his death. Happens next Wednesday, February 16, 2005, at the Hard Rock Café, London.

The auction site is Here (http://www.cooperowen.com/)

You can watch it live on Ebay Here (http://pages.liveauctions.ebay.com/catalogs/catalog16934.html)

You can download the whole catalog of Hendrix’s possessions up for auction Here (http://www.cooperowen.com/PDF/2118.PDF) - 27.2 MB pdf Adobe format

Lots of cool stuff in these 55 pages, complete with color photos and descriptions of each item up for auction.

Auction House Info:

The largest collection of Jimi Hendrix memorabilia in existence goes under the hammer during 2005. The items were on display until recently at the Marquee Club, London. The extent of this unrivalled collection of memorabilia is staggering, unseen footage, unheard recordings, clothing, rare and unpublished photographs, signed and handwritten items, including lyrics, poetry and drawings, paperwork, ephemera. The most extensive collection of Hendrix-related vinyl known to exist as well as rare period and contemporary posters documenting Jimi Hendrix's unending influence on music and pop culture.

There are 3 Stratocasters owned by Hendrix up for auction, expected to fetch from 60,000 to 150,000 pounds UK.

Also a bass owned by Noel Redding (and a bunch of other Noel Redding stuff).

-----------------

HR, those are just estimated values (basically opening bid values) and are always set very low to anticipated actual selling prices,....(are done that way on purpose).

For example sold last June 2004 in open auction at Eric Clapton’s 2nd Auction. Note: This auction broke all previous records on prices, held June 24, 2004 at Christie's in New York City.

1956/57 Fender Stratocaster, Eric Clapton's "Blackie"
Estimated: $100,000 - $150,000 Actual Auction Sales Price: $959,500

1964 Gibson ES-335 TDC owned by Eric Clapton
Est: $60,000 - $80,000 Actual $847,500

1965 Fender Stratocaster, Stevie Ray Vaughan's "Lenny"
Est: $15,000 - $20,000 Actual: $623,500

1996 Fender Stratocaster, 50th Anniversary "Goldleaf" Stratocaster
Est: $8,000 - $12,000 Actual: $455,500

2000 Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster painted by Roy Brizio - "Hot Rod Stratocaster"
Est:$7,000 - $9,000 Actual: $220,300

1988 Fender Custom Shop Eric Clapton Signature Model Stratocaster
Est: $10,000 - $15,000 Actual: $231,500

Just part of 88 guitars sold for a total of $7.5 million. See full list of auction results Here (http://www.stratcollector.com/corner/archives/000255.html)

If those kind of multiples hold up, you do the math on what those Hendrix guitars are going to bring, and this market is still extremely strong for the sellers this year.

Ok, understanding the above numbers, anybody want to guess what this Jimi Hendrix famous guitar is going to actually sell for. This guitar is the top item of the entire auction.

What do you think?

=====================

Here's the details:

Est: $218,560 - $291,240

Again this range is basically opening bid on a guitar like this.

Ok, how about this one.

What do you think will be the price it will actually sell for?
Est: $8,740 - $11,660

Note: Like 7-8 years ago, a little 1 inch headband/sweatband that Hendrix wore, (supposedly he put acid in it while playing so the acid would soak into his sweat pores on his head during the gig), sold for $6,750.

Jimi Live - August 1970

Everytime I go back and listen/review Hendrix's original material/work, I'm still totally amazed at this guy. No artist comes close to this him, and never will.

I guess I would be remiss, if I didn't post one Jimi's "gather around the campfire" pics.

Current pic of one of Jimi's "campfire" victims.

Note: Obviously, all the gold hardware is not original. The person that currently owns this guitar is a dumbass.

Jimi personally gave this guitar to Frank Zappa, and Zappa also played with Jimi on several occassions.

I have been into Hendrix since about 1979. Prior to that, I only knew he had done a few hits like Hey Joe and Purple Haze....but then in the spring of 1979 I met a guy who became my best friend (we still talk on the phone for several hours a week), and he introduced me to the story behind Jimi and his amazing and all too short career.

I bin a fanboy ever since...

Holy bajesus, you know the legend Billy Cox, hell if there was a way I could give you another 5 Stars, I would....two or three times!

Billy was with Jimi in '69, at Woodstock, and with Jimi right up to his death. I've got 4 videos of Billy playing live with Hendrix.
