Oh did I forget to mention Roth!!!!!!!!!
Of todays great frontmen that are still alive I believe that none can compare to their yunger yrs, Roth on the other hand can still create an atmosphere that resembles the good old days, minus the huge splits off the drum riser. Therefore my choice of five consists only of one man...THE Toast Master General"

Yeah so I posted 9. These guys all fit into the "Living" and "Legend" category.

By the way, you guys realize that Dio has been releasing records since 1958?????
In 3 more years, he will have been a rock vocalist for 50 FUCKING YEARS!!!

It's debatable.

That's why I stated "Mojo Risin'".

According to popular myth, Jim has stated that if he was to fake his death he'd go to Madagascar.

It was just a joke.

No James Hetfield?

If the reason "no" is b/c in some ways Lars is the frontman, the Robert Plant shouldn't be on there, since in some ways Jimmy was the frontman. And Daltrey shouldn't be on anyone's list, period. He may have been the singer, but Townsend was the frontman.

Aside from Dave, Freddie Mercury was the best. Never saw Queen live, wasn't even particularly a fan, but all the footage I ever saw (including Live Aid) that guy knew how to work a crowd and put on a show.

Hetfield couldn't hack carrying the balls of ANY of the people mentioned in this thread.

He's a drunk fuck like EdWad that pissed away any greatness he once could've had by living in a bottle. Those 2 wrote the fucking book on how to alienate a fanbase!

I agree re: alienating the fanbase, but there's no question of the man's charisma in front of an audience.

One of the best rock photos of all time is the one where he's on stage and there's ten thousand arms up in there saluting him. (can anyone post that?)

Vince Neil, the motherfucker.
Phil Collins, a change of pace but the most natural frontman I've ever seen live.

Does anyone think Bono should be in this 'living legend frontmen' category?

CROWBAR
02-24-2005, 04:17 PM
No, Bono uses his band as, more or less his own political views, therefore, rendering U2 as shiite!

So did THE WHO, Hendrix, CSNY, Lennon, and countless others.

He follows in a great tradition of rock LEGENDS.

Lately their music is not political at all. I like that he separates his band's music from his politics these days.

It's not a bad thing that he puts his celebrity to good use instead of jumping on the reality show bandwagon. Ozzy and Vince lose points there in the credibility dept.

I would also add that many people her do not like me from what they know of me but, they like the music I have made.

That's OK. I don't take myself too seriously anyway.

The music I make I treat sacredly. It's better than me.

I think U2 approach their music in a similar way. You may not like it but, try to justify that it sucks. It's the real deal in where it comes from. It's more ambitious than DIO, Ozzy, and Vince. That's for sure. I percieve that stagnance equals integrity to some here.

Growth is the sign of a true artist IMO.

There is growth musically in U2 whether they lose fans or not. the progression of what they do musically is obvious whether it's panned or not.

The music is important to them.

whether you like it or not.

U2 is the biggest band since the Beatles.

There is sincerity to their music and that is why they are huge. Even the bleating, sheep-like masses pick up on it.

Not because they write music on par with Brittany Spears. Their shit is real. It's rock n roll.

Not like DIO is (isn't) rock n roll.

Like the greats. The stones, beatles and who AND VAN HALEN. they write songs in the tradition that, even if you dont know the song, whether you hear a drum beat, or a guitar chord you know it's them.

they deserve the respect they get.
