Man, I used to be a big fan of W.A.S.P..

All their albums up until 92`s "The crimson idol" were pretty good.

Then Blackie Lawless said he was splitting the band.

Right at the height of grunge.

But after a couple of years he tried to ride the Marilyn Manson gravy train, even trying to cite himself as an influence on the wierdo, by going back to the early gory days of W.A.S.P., even bringing back Chris Holmes.

Then the exact same career ensued in pursuit of a fanbase and record sales, with Lawless taking the band from shock rock to wanting to be taken more seriously, again firing Holmes for his lack of musical abilty.

Is anybody still buying their records?

FUCK ! I didnt even know they were still together, I thought Chris Holmes would have been dead years ago.

I met Blackie Lawless one night in Melbourne, Australia.
(Back in 86, I think ?)
He was signing T-shirts and albums, I had a chick in front
of me in the line. She was creaming herself over him, I
was like, whatever. He sees her before me and she offers
to blow him, he takes her up on the offer, saying to come
back after the signings. Im next with my skull t-shirt in hand.

I didnt know how to outdo the previous person, so I just
said to Blackie "Fuck, what a slut !". He smiled and said
yeah. I handed him my shirt (it was black with raised white
skulls all over it), he said it was fucking cool,
and that it was better than all the other shit he had to
sign that night. I said, thankyou, and "dont fuck that
slut, she's infested". He appreciated the advise.

We obviously were friends for life :)

He was drinking Jack Daniels neat and sniffing a lot too..
(Just for the record)

This was around the time "I wanna be somebody" was released.
They were getting a lot of interest at the time..

I cant believe they are still out there ?

I lost respect ofr W.A.S.P. when Blackie said he was sick of the name and wanted to start again doing more serious stuff.

Then the next thing you know he`s back, using the name and rehashing the same old shit.

He was like Kiss before they did the same thing, although they actually had a legacy they could trade on.

Once W.A.S.P. played "I wanna be somebody" and "Wild child" you could go home.

But yeah, he released two W.A.S.P. albums, a two part concept (!), over the past couple of years.

"The neon god" they were called.

Not a million miles away from "The crimson idol".

Yeah, he should have stuck to slogans like "SUCK ME, SUCK ME, EAT ME RAW!".

Stoopid though they were.

"Whatever happened to: W.A.S.P.?"

Never listened to them after "Electric Circus".

Riley jumped ship to L.A. Guns....Holmes disappeared into a Vodka bottle. Damn shame.........

I saw them last summer at a little club here in Cleveland. They were supposed to open the doors at 6:30pm. Didn't open the doors til 9pm. The show didn't start til 11pm. was supposed to start at 7:30pm. The opening acts were horrible. WASP finally cme on at 12:30pm they played for 50 minutes and left. The band was tight but Blackies aittitude really sucks..

Pisser!

Still, 50 minutes is probably more than enough time to play all the good songs in their repetoire.
