What a crappy night of boxing on HBO. First the replay Winky Wright's destruction of Trinidad (scorecards 120-107, 119-108,119-108) followed by Lamont Brewster knocking out Andrew Golotta 3 times in round 1.

This match leaves the title picture looking like this:
WBC: Klitschko (although he will lose this title and the winner of Rahman vs Barret will be named interim champ)
WBA: Johnny Ruiz (fresh off a loss to James Toney)
IBF: Chris Byrd (scheduled to fight #8 contender Sergei Layokovich)
WBO: Lamon Brewster

For those wondering why the Rahman-Barret fight is for a title:

KING FOR WRONG DAY: Don King is adamant about going ahead with his July 23 show, even though HBO doesn't want to broadcast it on that date. The cable network will broadcast a pay-per-view card featuring undisputed middleweight champ Bernard Hopkins and Jermain Taylor on July 16 and doesn't want another one the following week.

King is planning a show that will feature Hasim Rahman and Monte Barrett fighting for the WBC interim title and IBF heavyweight champ Chris Byrd defending against Sergei Liaykovich. King wants to go forward with the show because he has to satisfy a WBC requirement that Rahman and Barrett fight before the end of July in order to secure the interim crown. The interim title means that the winner of that match will be entitled to a 55-45 split with WBC champ Vitali Klitschko when they meet on Sept. 24. Without the interim tag the challenger to Klitschko is only entitled to a 75-25 split, with Klitschko getting the 75 percent. King doesn't have a site yet for the July 23 show, but is eyeing Madison Square Garden as a possible location.

By the way, King promotes both fighters while Klitscko is not a King client.
