That's too bad! His stroke was like two years ago. I thought he was doing OK.

Are we assuming it was the stroke ???
Some reports are treating it as suspicous..

Either way, as Rikk said, 54 is way too young to die..

            RIP Luther

I was never a hardcore fan but I love all the old "voices" of soul and R&B.
I listen to Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Percy Sledge, Ray Charles, Smokey Robinson, Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Ben E. King, and Bill Withers on a regular basis.
I don't own any L.V. albums but I have a few of his songs on a classic soul comp. cd. That dude can wrap his voice around any song and tug at your heart. Mad respect for anybody that can do that. Nowadays, the only good R&B that sounds anything like all those guys are KC and JoJo. Little soul and a little gospel.
Something I've always loved about him and those guys above is when you hear them sing a smooth ballad you can hear the strain in their voice and you know they're not just singing about it. They've lived it. I'm not a big country fan either but I feel the same way about Conway Twitty and George Jones. You hear "Hello Darlin" or "He Stopped Loving Her Today" and you feel exactly what they feel. Rest In Peace brother. You will be missed.

The stroke itself was probably related to other health issues. I'm pretty sure he was diabetic, and that brings a whole slate of problems with it, especially as you get older, unless you really take care of yourself physically. Which wasn't Luther's strongest area, unfortunately.

                  It's a waste of a great talent

I always enjoyed hearing Luther's voice on the radio. That
man had soul in his voice for every little word he sang.

Didn't he sing "Just once" if that was him that was a cool song. RIP
There are those that do and those that don't. Those that didn't see what those that did had done and wish they had especially when "She looked so F#*kin GOOD"

Nope, it was James Ingram who sung 'Just Once'
