On my way back up the Oregon Coast this week, I was driving through Astoria, and noticed the Holiday Inn Express and their Reader Board.
It's sign said:
Where Sleeping Under The Bridge Is A Good Thing
It is located almost directly under the bridge crossing the mouth of the Columbia River.
Now I know I'm a wussy, PC, Bleeding Heart Liberal, but I still think I have a pretty good sense of Humor, but I found this sign in really poor taste. Making fun of the homeless by a Worldwide Corporation [other than the Bush /Cheney Administration] is pretty low.
I'm sure whoever put it up thought they were being funny.
NEXT, as I was driving Hiway 30 through Clatskanie, on my way to I-5, I noticed one of those " Adopt a Hiway" signs.
THIS particular stretch of hiway 30 is kept up by:
NW PUNKS
I kid you not.
It brought a grin to my face imagining a team of black pleated skirts, black boots, mohawks, Sex Pistol T-shirts, and safety pins bending over and cleaning up empty beer cans and cig. butts.
