As appreciative as Blue Water Area residents are to have a major concert festival such as Sarnia Bayfest, some are a little jealous it’s happening in Sarnia’s Centennial Park. Many wish there was something similar on this side of the border.
“I’d be very interested in it,” Josh Morton, 23, of Greenwood Township said. “I think it would bring a lot of revenue to (Port Huron).”
Bayfest begins Thursday night with performances by 3 Doors Down, Staind and Alter Bridge. The event continues through Saturday night with concerts including David Lee Roth on Friday and Billy Talent and Kid Rock on Saturday. Tickets are available at Military Street Music Café, 1102 Military St., Port Huron; online at www.sarniabayfest.com; or by phone at (866) 714-0841.
There are many reasons there is no Port Huron Bayfest — including potential locations and competition from the Detroit market. Even though, the festival can attract as many as 20,000 fans for each show — with many of them traveling across the Blue Water Bridge.
