MTV had a contest (the winner was chosen by a drawing I think) and the winner got to go to Detroit, meet/party with the band, and then go on stage. It was the "84 tour. There were two shows in Detroit. This was the first show (I was at the second) and during the encore, they stopped the show, brought the guy on stage, announced him as the winner of the VH Lost Weekend, and then all the band members threw a big cake in his face. Quite a party

i remember in the early 80's maybe, or not, when mtv was first coming out, i saw the promotional booth at an alice cooper concert at navy pier in chicago... everyone said wtf, this shit sucks, but as we all know, mtv exploded

btw that concert lineup was alice cooper, billy squier and def leppard

def leppard was supporting their on through the night album, pretty cool, they didn't start sucking until later

billy squier was hit with a fucking beer bottle b/c the alice cooper die hards didn't like his faggy dancing... he didn't finish his set...

I was at the show that was a great concert I stayed at the same hotel as Van Halen.
Autograph was the opening act I saw the lead singer get hiss ass whipped by hotel security in the evening.
I ran into Diamond Dave at around 3;00 a.m with his 2 midget bodygaurds in the lobby of the hotel all I can say is that there was a shitload of chicks there Dave tried to take all of them up to his hotel the hotel security said one or none dave just stumbled to the elevator and left

Cato, give us more info about the thing. You've watched it by now, no? Is it a full concert? Is it as grate as - or better than - Largo '82? Spill the beans, mate!

Cheers! :bottle:

Autograph was the opening band. At the second of the two Detroit shows, I remember watching Dave climbing in the light towers over the stage during Autograph's show and pouring plastic gallon containers of what looked like milk down on them during their encore. It wa a blast to watch

Cato,

Can you upload the Lost Weekend on MTV with Van Halen. I have been searching for this for the past 20 years.

Email me directly if you can.

Howdy Cato,

Thanks for the reply. My buddy has the Eruption dvd. How likely is it that you would upload the entire dvd which you got or where can you find it to buy or trade? I truely have been looking for the complete show for about 20 years. None of us had VCR's back then to record any of this cool stuff.

Let me know if we can work something out.

I was a runner-up in that MTV Lost Weekend contest. Well, one of 1,000 runners-up in the contest. MTV received over a million entries, 200 of which were mine. All I got was a 1984 album, which I already had.

I've had a VCR since 1980, and I still have a partial copy of this documentary shown back then. I missed the first part of the show because I didn't know about it until I accidentally stumbled across it while flipping channels.

I'm not sure if there is live footage. What I do have is about a 5 min. clip of J.J. Jackson talking about it the next day,I believe. With some very cool on stage footage. It is part of the 6 hr. VH compilation tapes donated to rustoffa's cunt-est.

The guys name is Kurt Jefferies of Detroit.
Kurt, if your reading this, or if anyone can get a hold of him, GET YOUR ASS ON THIS SIGHT AND SPILL YOUR GUTS!!!!

My God in heaven what stories he must have.
