You know, I've heard stories about Dave turning down fans for
autographs but I came across this interesting story on a website.
DLR CAN be a willing autograph signer if you catch him on a good
day. Many artists can be like that anyways. Here is the link to the
site and tell me what you think. I wanna add stories to that site sometime in the near future.

It kept bouncing off that URL for me..

Heres the story:

Today 6/24/05, David Lee Roth is perfoming in New Jersey, I live in the Midwest. I contemplated on whether I should fly out and see him or not, cause I need a Dave fix real bad. Obviously I did not, other wise I wouldn't be surfing the net. The upside is that I got to read about Earl's encounter with meeting DLR. I am 38 years old and have seen DLR in concert 19 times.

In 1999, when Dave was on tour in my area I seen him twice in Oklahoma, once in Kansas, and once in Texas, since everyone had convinced me that the world was going to end in 2000, I told my daughter she wouldn't be able to die happy if she never seen a Dave show, so I snuck her into a 21 club to see him, it really wasn't much of a sneak, my husband is a stagehand and we both had all access passes. We spent most all day at the venue, and in the late afternoon I met a guy who just really stuck out, business suit and all, apparently he worked for Boeing and when he flew in heard that DLR was in concert that night, and came directly to the venue, well we got to talking and if there is something I can talk about it is DLR. Well this guy and I sit and talk until the sun goes down, then he says he is going to walk around, he comes back a little later, looking like he had been abducted by aliens, and I was like, what happened to you? And he says, he's back there, and I'm like who's back there? And he says David Lee Roth, well I've been chasing this guy for who knows how long and I've got a bag of stuff that if he is willing to sign anything from out of it I'll be a happy camper.

Well in the heat of the moment, low and behold I leave the backpack in the car. My daughter and I take off walking, and we see this guy, off in the corner of the parking lot with his hands in his pockets and a hat on, kicking at the ground, like he has lost something, well we get closer, and my daughter who doesn't really get starstruck, afterall her dad is a stagehand, she has seen tons of shows and has met lots of performers, basically shoves me into him and says that's him, so here I am face to face, with the man, the myth, the legend, the god, David Lee Roth, and no freakin' backpack of goodies that I've been hauling from show to show. So I'm like, hey, hows it goin'? Well I had just gotten a freshly inked tattoo of DLR's initials, the tribal ones from Your Filthy Little Mouth, on my ankle, so I say can I show you something? And he says sure, well I show him my new tattoo, and he says, hey we've got ourselves a fan here, I had told him that I had talked to him before on Rockline, and he says, oh we know each other? And I'm like yeah, you probably know me better than I know myself and he asks if we would like to get something signed, well we both had on DLR shirts, so we were like sure, well he kneels down in front of me and begins to autograph my shirt, and in my head I can hear myself say, I've waited a long time to have you in that position, and all of a sudden I can see myself like I'm floating and looking down, it took me a few seconds to realize I was having an out of body experience, I understood why the Boeing guy came back looking so freaked out. So we get our autographs, and he looks at our passes, and says are you guys, sure you can get in with these, and we're like yeah, well he leans towards me like he was going to tell me something, I probably thought he was going to whisper the secret of the universe to me or something, instead he kisses me on the cheek, and says enjoy the show. Well I had always told my daughter that I would someday be within smelling distance of that guy, and later on she said, okay, I seen you all sniffin' him when he kissed you, of course she was like so what did he smell like, and I said it was the most comforting scent I ever smelled, this jacket he had on had a leather collar, and I guess he had just had a shower, because he smelled like a cross between, leather and soap.

In 2001 I had taken a bus to Albuquerque, the original plan was to drive there, but like I said my husband the stagehand is the hardest person in the world to make plans with, because you never know when a one or two day gig will turn into a tour or something, so I'm all jazzed up to go see Dave, and hubby has to work so I end up taking a bus to New Mexico, that was like a 12 hour bus ride, it was at a casino, and come to find out "Mr. Roth" has all the shuttles booked, so after the show I can't leave, my intention was go to the show, rock out, get a hotel room, get back on the bus at 6:a.m., well since I'm stuck there at the casino, I figure I will just wait, and see if I can get an autograph, well it took forever for him to come out, the crowd dwindled down to only myself and two other people, who I had been talking to, they rushed him into this waiting vehicle so quickly, and these other two people just shoved their way through and his options were slam the door on their arms or sign their ticket stubs, well he signs their stuff and security slams the door and says, he is only signing two things, these two people, were not only husband and wife, but they lived so close, they could walk home. I was sooo disappointed. Well at this point it is like 3:30 in the morning, and this casino has an on-duty-all-day locksmith, apparently alot of people lock their keys in their cars, and the casino asks him to give me a ride to the hotel closest to the bus station, well I get to this hotel which is like two blocks from the bus station, and I decide that since I only have a few hours I'll just go wait it out at the bus station, so here I am sitting in a bus station with no autograph, sometimes that is the price you pay for being a fan.

Both stories are good but I liked the hotel one because Dave was signing the guy's index card and his back pack fell causing him to mess it up. Dave was NOT satisfied until he got his signature perfect.

Here, try this. Click on the link and as soon as the page loads, hit the
stop button on your browser as quick as you can. This should stop
your browser from loading to the next page automatically. It does the same for me for some strange reason. Hope it works for ya!
