Here's a great story: At one point during the 70's Elton John had his own boutique label (sort of like Rolling Stones Records). He was giving serious consideration to signing the Stooges. Iggy was excited with the idea.

Elton flew in to see them perform one night, and thought it would be hilarious if he surprised Iggy and came out on stage dressed as a gorilla. Everyone thought it was a great idea.

But no one stopped to think, "Hey, you know Iggy sure does like to play with body chemistry before each and every show. Maybe this might backfire, you know?"

So Elton comes bounding out on stage, Iggy is dancing at the lip, but he noticeas the crowd has started applauding like crazy. He turns his head and is a terrified to see A FUCKING GORILLA BOUNDING DOWN ON HIM.

Iggy literally screamed, jumped off the stage and tore ass through the crowd.

They didn't get signed.
