View Full Version : BCE cancels "YES" tour in the name of "Homeland Security"??

No link on this, I'm listening to YES drummer Alan White on the radio right now. White and some of his YES bandmates were supposed to kick off a tour at the EMP in Seattle tonight, but apparently the tour has been cancelled due to "Visa problems".

White lives in Seattle, the rest of the band is still in England. The tour wasn't going to be a full YES band performance, but actually individual sets from White's band, and other groups led by Steve Howe and Chris Squire, with a set together at the end of the show. Jon Anderson isn't involved, so I have no idea who's singing.

Anyway, not to dwell too much on the musical aspects of this..... Isn't this some ridiculous overkill by the BCE??

We're talking a bunch of English rock musicians whom have been well known to the world for 35 years. They obviously aren't "terrorists", nor would they be mistaken for terrorists even by a trigger happy London (or LA) cop.

I wonder what the Reichland Security spin on this is?

What exactly are the problems?

Tell them they can enter through Mexico, I'll have a box truck waiting for them.

Apparently one of the roadies turned his paperwork in one day late or something ridiculous like that. I could see them kicking that roadie off the tour, though that would still be overkill as far as I'm concerned.

Hmmmm, but why cancel the whole tour?
That is something that can be rectified in short order isn't it?

I have no idea how any of that visa/passport shit works since i never have and don't intend to leave the states unless i get fed up and follow the job market to wherever it goes.

And i won't be back if that is ever the case.

Mezro...good job BCE...now can you do something about Fat Joe?...

If this had happened under any other president, would visa problems be the fault of that administration as well?

Finally, an "offiical story", but not much more info....

No visas, tour for Yes members

By Steve Morse, Globe Staff | August 2, 2005

Visa problems, partly stemming from tightened security after recent terrorist attacks in London, have forced the cancellation of the aptly named ''More Drama Tour." It was to have featured three members of English classic-rock group Yes, playing under the name Howe-Squire-White, but the entire US tour has been scrapped, the band announced yesterday.

The canceled dates include the Bank of America Pavilion Aug. 24 and Mohegan Sun Aug. 25. Refunds are available at point of purchase. The band is hoping to reschedule the tour, according to spokesman Jonathan Wolfson.

''This came out of nowhere. We were supposed to start in Seattle on Aug. 2," Wolfson said yesterday from Los Angeles.

''We're frustrated as much as the fans are, but we understand the importance of the heightened security," bassist Chris Squire said in a statement yesterday.

One of the opening acts, the Syn (also featuring Squire) posted a message on its website that said a member of the entourage had ''overstayed a previous visa and this impacted everyone on the application."

''If one member is red-flagged for any reason, then all members are red-flagged," the message said. ''In the days following the terrorist attacks in London, US immigration and Homeland Security rightly is on high alert, and there is no flexibility." link (http://www.boston.com/news/globe/living/articles/2005/08/02/no_visas_tour_for_yes_members?mode=PF)

So, did the administration cancel this tour or did they just follow the same procedure that they use for everyone else?

Dying to hear the spin... ;)

This is most likely an excuse for poor ticket sales.

Yeah, the only thing I can think of more boring than seeing Yes again would be to see them split into 3 groups in the same night.

Now if the BCE can do the same with Keane...

Dude, give us all a break. If the BCE has the time and resources to hack into the PC of a moderator at a message board devoted to David Lee Roth, certainly canceling the U.S. tour of a rock powerhouse like YES is not beyond the BCE.

Someone should check and see whether YES has made any public statements against the war in Iraq or against the BCE in general. That would clearly explain the BCE's motives.

You can clearly see that by saying they understand the need for tight national security that they've already been infiltrated by the BSCE and have been brainwashed. There won't be any public statements and surely that makes it clear as day that there is a conspiracy afoot here.

This happened when UFO toured, and they wouldn't let Pete Way into the country.

Glad to see the intelligent design of your tax dollars at work by the Republican led Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches of the USA.....

Perhaps Homeland Security was afraid the terrorists would cause innocent fans to become comatose with the unique blandness of their evil sonic attack?

Yes is weird. And that tour would have been even weirder.

My best friend, someone who's intellect and perspective and rationales I respect greatly, saw them last year at Madison Square Garden.

I can honestly say he was significantly stupider for a solid week afterwards.

Haha!

Nono, this was strictly the influence of being in the vicinity of the authors of "Tales of Topographic Oceans".

Boy, they suck.

I'll admit to owning that album, but I still don't understand it.

Nor did I pay full price for it. It was one of the many oddities I managed to find when I worked at a Goodwill thrift store many years ago.

Still like Yes' early stuff though. And even the 90125-BigGenerator-Union era.

It goes deeper than that. I have VERY reliable sources at the CIA and the TSA that tell me they are concerned that the band YES, although technically very talented, is quite possibly the most boring band alive. The real fear is that they may enter an airport or take the stage somewhere and put us ALL to sleep, leaving us open to countless acts of terrorism and even total destruction. :D
