Hagar Plans to Never Charge Fans Again

Sammy Hagar Plans to Never Charge Fans Again for Concerts

Los Angeles, California (AHN) - Red Rocker, Sammy Hagar, who has sold millions of albums as a solo artist and nearly 40-million albums with Van Halen, has verbally confessed to a concept he is developing that would consist of playing big production concerts and never charging people for tickets.

You read that right. Hagar wants to perform for free across the nation with a full fledged show.

"I'm getting real close to being able to go out and perform, big concerts with huge production, for free," Hagar says. "That's what I'm trying to get to. It's a year or two early from being able to do it for free, assuming the company keeps growing the way it is."

The "company" is the chain of Cabo Wabo Cantina's that are popping up around the country that are modeled after the main one that him and former bandmates Alex and Eddie Van Halen co-owned during better days. Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony owns a percentage of the club and still plays with Hagar on select dates.

Hagar also sells tens of millions of dollars in tequila a year with his special brand of Cabo Wabo Tequila. His last tour with Van Halen made the rocker an estimated $35 million dollars on touring alone.

"So there, I am, in Sri Lanka, formerly Ceylon, at about 3 o'clock in the morning, looking for one thousand brown M&Ms to fill a brandy glass, or Ozzy wouldn't go on stage that night. So, Jeff Beck pops his head 'round the door, and mentions there's a little sweets shop on the edge of town. So - we go. And - it's closed. So there's me, and Keith Moon, and David Crosby, breaking into that little sweets shop, eh. Well, instead of a guard dog, they've got this bloody great big bengal tiger. I managed to take out the tiger with a can of mace, but the shopkeeper and his son... that's a different story altogether. I had to beat them to death with their own shoes...Nasty business, really, but sure enough I got the M&Ms, and Ozzy went on stage and did a great show..."
