According to ESPN.com, Michael Finley has chosen his new team and it is the defending champion San Antonio Spurs.
Finley, 32, apparently turned down more lucrative offers from both the Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns in order to join the Spurs.
Finley, a two-time NBA All-Star, was waived by the Dallas Mavericks two weeks ago, saving the Maverics a reported $51-million in luxury tax payments, while sparking a bidding war among several contending teams.
The deal is reported to begin at $2.5-million for the coming season.
Finley averaged 15.7 points and 4.1 rebounds per game, while shooting a career-best 40.7% from three-point range, in 2004-2005.
"This is the closest I've ever been to a championship," Finley told ESPN. "I'm looking forward to the challenge of helping this team repeat."
With Finley in the fold the Spurs figure to be poised for another title run, with the biggest challenge for coach Greg Popovich being how to get enough minutes and touches for all the talented perimeter players.
The Spurs' depth is such that Finley is expected to come off the bench, after starting every one of his games for the Mavericks over the last eight seasons, and 696 of his 735 career games.

Teams like this seem to have endless cap room.
