That's when Peralta made a near hysterical cell-phone call to Tina McCarthy, the mother of her daughter's boyfriend. Lauren Brown had fled with the McCarthy family to Memphis, Tenn.

Peralta yelled into the phone that she was in a small boat in the eye of the hurricane and that she could see the storm swirling around them. "I was screaming, 'Call the National Guard; we're going to die! We're going to die!'"

I wonder what some of these people are thinking living above that cholera infested, shit and rot filled water...

Although, I saw yesterday that some made it through the hurricane in the (dry) French Quarter in style, as a bar stayed open through is all. I wouldn't want to leave my home either I suppose.
