    It's showtime!

    ALAE is my fave solo album, and "It's showtime!" is that ultimate motherfuckin' Dave song IMO... Every time I listen to it, no matter how well I know the track, I'm always as amazed as I was when I first played it 15 years ago. Ha! Ha!
    You can't make it better than how it was recorded, really. The guitar parts are more than awesome, they sound a lot like CVH should have if only they had carried on with Diamond whose vocals just go through the ceiling...
    Great riff, splendid break and solo, madhouse ambience: the perfect Dave-style party-time blast...

    If you're asked: "What is David Lee Roth's music like?", and you can only choose one example... just play that song!

                  You're right... But it's another song, beyond similarities. I dig that one particularly, it all goes so insane and hilarious, Dave getting his kicks so much in there (and ain't that saying a lot ), roarin' and shoutin' and howlin' and all... And Jason Becker plays incredibly fast though he's always so melodic - his fillings, the bridge and his solo would kick a bull elephant's ass and make him dance mambo!

                  And the paroxysm of the outro linked to the intro to "Drop in the bucket" is carved in my memory like in stone.

                      Out of fairness...I didn't post in this or any other It's Showtime thread...lmfao...because I've posted about it about 1,000 times before the Army went down a couple of years ago...

                      that being said...It's Showtime is my absolute favorite Roth solo tune...by a long shot...

                                              I'm very proud of what was that band and what was that show and what it did mean to people. It disgusts me that it has turned into the complete opposite. That it now represents everything that I spoke against, that we suppoesedly represented the converse of. I don't want to have to remember that the team turned into that. Makes me question what the team was while I was a member. Was it all bullshit? If nothing else, it confirms in my mind that from my standpoint - yours truly, David Lee - not a fraction. If nothing else, this kind of morbid, wounded animal anger aimed my way has caused me to look deep into that bathroom mirror and come back to you with "my shit was legit." It was for real. And perhaps the test is time. Because here I am, a decade and a half later, haven't changed much. I look a little different, but not much. My sense of humour is about the same.
