I don't really have a preferance here. I've got guitars with both Rosewood and Maple finger boards, and there's no major difference. I'd go with what will look aesthetically better

        Yes there is...

Maple is brighter, rosewood is warmer...

        I like both...

I agree with Elvis...maple is definitely brighter sounding than rosewood.

            Maple all the way.

I have two Strats and both are maple. My one tis' the Frankie replica and the neck was unstained and is dirty as fuck. My other one is varnished but the fretboard still has some cool marks from playing. Maple rules.

I prefer maple, but right now my main (and latest) axe has a rosewood board.
Why settle for something you have, if it's not as good as something you're out to get?

i often think about this question too. i'll admit this here...being an eddie fan definitely steered me in the direction of maple necks. if it's a start shaped guitar then i want maple!

then again if it's another shape rosewood is fine. it actually feels softer and warmer...but on a strat shaped guitar i just can't do it...damn you eddie!!!

Maple, but I too like both.

I prefer Maple, but I don't have anything against a rosewood board.

A Les Paul fretboard is beautiful & so easy to play......

I just like the feel and Tone that comes with a Maple board......

I suffer from bare maple disease. I have a great sounding Strat with a rosewood fretboard but I love a worn, dirty maple neck on a Strat type guitar. On a Gibson, give me rosewood or ebony. I love a nice Les Paul Custom with the inlays and binding too. Just such a classy look. For downright feel and playing fast as hell, unfinished maple babee!
No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!
