I think the best I did from ear (fingerpicking)
was Blackbird (the Beatles) and master of puppets solo..
(Metallica)

A bit lame compared to Eric Johnson and Yngwie, OH !
I did work out an Yngwie song. I forget what it was called,
I remember it was about Vikings.. (Yeah Ok that narrows
it down to half Yngwie J's catalog..) :p

Does anyone know what the J stands for in his name ??
I think it was good that he put the J in there so we wouldnt
confuse him with all the other Yngwie Malmsteens out there..

Lars Johann Yngwie Lannerback is his full name....

HIs Dad split from his Mum when he was a child & I don't think he wanted any association with the guy....hence Yngwie Malmsteen...Malmsteen being his Mum's maiden name I believe.....

Well, lotsa Iron Maiden riffs are pretty bitching to play, but I would have to say the opening riff to Michael Schenker's "Captain Nemo" has given me more trouble than many other tunes...

Use moderate amounts of overdrive, and mute the 2's with your palm to get

great song for warming up. Cant do the solo though. I improv it. The rest is easy enough by ear though.

hardest song by ear? Shit, there are so many. Ever since Elvis mentioned he plays, or tries playing, Outta Love Again- I immediatley tried. And failed. and still fail. :( I can get some of it. Very little really. a bit of the solo. a very small bit. Id say "Outta Love Again".

My friend and I used to cheat around with malmsteen riffs, never the the solos.
I usually played bass. We sounded a lot better drunk though , when we sobered up and listened to the porta tracks it would suck as usual

The once I still remember are:

The bassline to "God" by Tori Amos

It was an audition song...didn't have very long to learn it. It has constant time signature changes....and sounds easier than it is.

Yeah, I got my home studio cookin' now...

I can post some hifidelity riffs...

I have several programs, including pro tools...

I have tons of guitars, amps, and different setups...

I can emulate and/or imitate alot of players, so I'd like to play around with some bandwidth...

a half assed version of someone butchering a song then asking for compliments.

BS1 was wise to leave it.
Besides you can use rapidshare to show people how you can copy a riff.
We'll pat you on the head and say Good Dog, then you can run off and poop behind a tree.

Not quite. For beginners like me, Id like to see someone else play the riff that I was TRYING to get down, to see where I am in comparison. I dont think it has anything to do with ego. Most ppl like showing what we can accomplish, and if that means "great work"/ "love that solo" then so be it. Who cares? And if you are the one that doesn't want to see others play or "buther" a song, then dont click on the download. :rolleyes: Sounds like you already go to rapidshare to do this, so whats the dealio? Or maybe you just heard from a friend, who has a friend who talk to this guy, who he was friends with once that downloaded a clip of someone "buthering" a VH song? :D
