sorry to disagree with just about everyone on this board but at the end of the day van halen is currently still three quarters of the band that so many of you idolised with roth. sure He was a better frontman , lyracist (if thats even a word) and possibly singer. im sure eddie will have more than a few tricks up his sleeves and we will see them in time. Is anyone really surprised by this? I'm not.

Two key points to make:

1) Sammy is a shill and always has been. He has been jonsing for this since he was fired in June of 1996. It's all he talks about. Sammy is a dolt, plain and simple. He only weapon of choice is abuse. He tries to abuse Dave by saying he's "Washed" and "Can't sing" and so on... Sammy also reminds me of the classic Triangulator. It's a psychological term when one person (Sammy) pits two people, in this case Van Halen and Dave against each other. And I won't even get started on Michael Anthony, the BITCH that he is.. But, Sammy has triangulated since June of 96'. He mentioned he called Dave in 1997 to tour. He did that so he could ensure that Dave wouldn't get back with VH. They finally did it 02' because neither one had anything else. Sammy had basically become JAime Farr. You know, Klinger from MASH? What did he ever do after that except appear on Game Shows and Murder She Wrote??? That is about it. So, his "phone call" to Alex last August had agenda written all over it. I have even less respect for Sammy than I did previous to this announcement. He is a little girl.

2) Dave is fuck up. Dave has screwed himself down pretty tight. His career situation was even worse than Sammy's. Really, how much longer can this guy run around the country doing a classic Van Halen revue? It's boring. And the Atomic Punks do a better job at that. There isn't enough GOOD material. Then to top that, he releases this piece of crap album Diamond Dave. Can anyone here tell me they've listened all the way through? I tossed it after spending $13. It SUCKED. Don't be dillusional gang. Dave is finished as ANY kind of popular performing artist. The only thing keeping him alive are boards like this. In otherwords, maybe 500 people? The only way Dave will make ANY headlines beyond fucking up is when he files for Bankruptcy, which I'm sure will be VERY soon. That is unless the casino's get hard up for a "Summer Tour"... Please. I don't want to see him again splashing Jack Daniels on the front row singing Runnin' With t he Devil. What a joke.

Really, how much longer can this guy run around the country doing a classic Van Halen revue? It's boring. And the Atomic Punks do a better job at that. There isn't enough GOOD material. Then to top that, he releases this piece of crap album Diamond Dave. Can anyone here tell me they've listened all the way through? I tossed it after spending $13. It SUCKED. he had the chance..all he had to do was admit ed's greatness and importance in the band...and he wouldn't do it. And it's not even a lie...Ed is that great and that important to the band. quite frankly, Dave did this himself to all of you and all of us.
the only difference is that some of us choose to move forward and some of you choose to live in the bitter past.

c'mon, can't we all put aside the acrimony and celebrate that ed and the boys are going to be playing again? who cares who's singing. shit i saw them with Gary and it was still great!

Azcardinal, thx for the apology. i have no bone with you except what we've resolved.

As for dave, it's the old "who's ego is bigger" issue. they actually had some songs recorded and in the can last yr. Ed was willing to let things from the past stay there in the past. but he was honest w/ dave and, i'll admit, a bit egotistical. but even at that, he's right. he wanted dave to admit that He(ed) is the main force in the band, that it is Ed's band and that he is the main reason for their success. HE wanted dave to admit he was wrong when he left VH, that he wasn't the main reason for their success and coming back, he would be a part of it but not the main reason. and dave couldn't or wouldn't do that. even though we all know it's the truth. noone says dave wasnt a big part of them, he was. but we saw w/o dave how vh did great and dave ,w/o eddie didnt.
it was that simple. again, dave let us all down.

as for him being back now, the answer is no. am i 100% ? no. nothing is 100% in vh land
