DAVE in Nov 17th ROLLING STONE

Small article on STERN leaving for pay radio....

"On January 3rd, former VAN HALEN singer DAVID LEE ROTH will take over for Stern's WXRK-FM morning show...."

The article is about the loss of FM ROCK stations to the "Talk-radio" format.

"Roth will be heard on seven stations, mostly on the east coast..."

"Roth, who has voluteering as an emergency medical technician in New York since last November, "auditioned" for the job with a three-hour on-the-air stint one night this year in L.A."

"Adam Carolla calls the former VAN HALEN frontman, "...sort of nutty, narcissistic, but interesting and potentially funny."

They need to push DAVE in every mainstream publication....give people a chance to get hip to him...he'll handle the rest. I'm betting he KICKS ASS at this gig.

What's this that Adam Carolla thinks DLR is "potentially" funny?

DLR will give Mr. Snorefest a huge rating surprise..........

      Sleep on that one Carolla!

The advantage of Roth taking over Stern is that he is gonna get a bit more publicity.

I think the shock jock Stern is in for a shock himself

            when he moves to satellite.

That station is losing huge money and I don't think Stern will

            save it.

            Dave will surprise people.

Right on Bro. We've already seen Adam Carolla's act, he's called Gilbert Gottfried.

From the limited work I heard from Dave's fill-in gig for that New England station, he was very good. High energy, high intelligence, very good with callers...not that you'd expect anything else. He should be great, though replacing Howard Stern is an extremely unenviable task.

Personally I like howard, luv Dave, but Howard's show is going to be very different than what he's doing now. His whole platform for the last how many years has been "shock" or what will he do next to push the envelope. He can't really ride his rebel persona anymore because he has no regulators, no FCC to worry about. His initial success was based on how far he could push things until he got fined or regulated. I think he's going to lose some of that edge because he will be able to do and say whatever he wants without getting caught.
I can't wait til Dave hits the airways in January. He'll do a great job. It blows that he's not in Chicago though, we have that fucking no-name Rover.
What are your thoughts on this? I'm interested to hear how you think Howard will do without regulation...

I think Stern lost a ton of credibility when he split from his wife...and refused to talk about it on air....
Many longtime listeners knew he was a pansy who couldn't "walk the walk"............

DAVE will do exceptionally well in this format......
