The first thrash band around, the guys that invented thrash. Tom Hunting and Kirk Hammet, followed by Gary Holt made Exodus, then Rich Burch introduced them to one Paul Baloff.they became hugely popular and in a few years the metal world is exploding with the new and aggresive sound of thrash metal.they inspired bands such as Metallica, Testament, Death Angel and Violence.Metallica were impressed enough by Exodus to recruit Kirk Hammet as the replacement for Dave Mustaine (after the bastards kicked him out).Personal and musical differences led to Paul Baloff's dismissal before the release of Exodus's second album Pleasures of the Flesh. This featured new singer Steve Zetro Souza (ex- Legacy front man). Legacy went on to change their name to Testament.Exodus went on to greater commercial heights with some of their albums (Pleasures of the Flesh, Fabulous Disaster, Impact is Imminent and Force of Habit) and tours (which included gigs with the likes of Pantera, Anthrax, Motorhead, Suicidal Tendencies, Black Sabbath, Celtic Frost, Megadeth, Metallica and Ice T's Body Count. Exodus eventually split up in 1992,due to musical differences, not long after the release of their final studio album Force of Habit. In 1996, nearly 13 years after Bonded by Blood was recorded, vocalist Paul Baloff, Gary Holt, Rick Hunolt, Tom Hunting and Jack Gibson were reunited. On March 8th 1997 at a sold out performance in San Francisco, the show was recorded and a live album was made called Another Lesson in Violence and then they toured in america. After the tours were done, the band split up. then in September 2001 Exodus reunited again, they came to the aid of Testaments Chuck Billy. The Thrash of the Titans' the show was a benefit that had Exodus, Legacy, Anthrax, S.O.D. and Death Angel, after the benefit Exodus worked on new stuff for another album and are starting to play more shows again, on February 2, 2002 Paul Baloff suffers a stroke, which took his life (R.I.P Paul Baloff). The rest of the band thought they would carry on for Paul. Zetro comes back onboard and the band is feeling better than ever as well as having that brutally sick attitude they always had. They have released a new album, shovel headed kill machine(which is awesome so buy it now) and Exodus are still on top of the thrash world.

band members now are

Vocals: Rob Dukes
Guitars: Lee Altus
Guitars: Gary Holt
Bass: Jack Gibson
Drums: Paul Bostaph

Some would argue that they were the first thrash band, but they have some good stuff. There are so many labels for that kind of metal that it's hard to determine who was first. Venom came pretty early on, but some would argue that they were Black Metal and not thrash. In the end, all those great bands that started in the 80s had the same style and spirit, whether it was called Thrash, Black or speed metal
