I still practice that lick as a rut-buster...ever notice if you're doing it correctly, your eyes kinda CROSS during the end part? Where your right hand is tapping the acsending line and your left is descending? Even Gilbert mentions it in the instructional video...

Indeed, and it is pure brilliance. It is one of my "desert island" CDs. Roger Waters at his best. Beck is not too shabby either!

Well, if you think so. But Gilbert expresses no passion, just a smile, wen he does something impressive. But thats all old wen u know how. I digged Sheehan during the DLR days. Some nice smooth, great sounding basslines. I love his work in 'Goin Crazy'. Simple, but really effective. Then I seen him with Vai live recently, and every musician that graced that stage that night dissapointed me. Sorry to the fans of those of those mentioned, but it was DIRE. Sheehans bass solo was like crow being strangled.

My fave stuff is Maiden. Anything or everything on Powerslave, Piece Of Mind, Number Of The Beast, and I dig some of No Prayer For The Dying (lotta songs on there that are just a blast to leap around to).

Or for real fun, I just throw on one of the three pro shot Maiden concerts I have on DVD or VHS so that I can play all or some or none of the above at 78 speed.

Other faves are Led Zep, AC/DC, Rush, Priest, Schenker.

I sometimes wonder why I don't try to learn some major Hendrix stuff, but I kinda reserve his stuff for the category that for me it is music to listen to, not necessarily to play along with.

He is my fave guitarist of all time though.

maiden rocks my band covers run to the hills the best song to jump around and show off in. i wrote my own solo though it gives it that personal touch even though i didnt write the song.

near the end of the song we usually break out into a jam and each instrument has its own solo but we still got that galloping rythm down.

maiden rocks!

Whole Lotta Love. It's the first real rock and roll song I learned. I was teaching a cute girl how to play it's main riff in college and one thing led to another and the next thing I know is the music lesson ended and we wound up fucking instead. It's a winner in my book!
