Youre the director andyou have a big budget and were doing the DLR story. Who would you cast as DLR ? This is a toughy and that's a testament to how unique DLR is.

Joe Thunder, of course! No....hmmmm....Jason Lee did a good job playing the lead singer in Almost Famous....could he do Roth? Probably not.... If he had the look for the part, Phillip Seymore Hoffman could probably pull it off but not because he is similar to Roth, he is just that good of an actor. But he would first have to go on a serious diet. That is a tough one. I would probably have to have an open call and hope to find some brilliant young unknown to cast. I would be very interested to her other people's ideas on this one.

No one comes to mind , so yeah youd probably have to find some "brilliant young unknown".

No one really has the build or looks of him.
He truly was unique.

Owen Wilson would make a PERFECT DLR

I just hope we're not regurgitating that lame Jamie Kennedy rumor again

I always thought Ralph from the Atomic Punks should do it. But Can He Act? I have no clue.

No one can do DAVID LEE ROTH better than the Atomic Punk himself.

If DLR turns down the role, I'd pick Ralph Saenz.

You guys are all on crack.....

IF it was to be a "legitimate" movie, it would need a box office "draw"

Plain and simple.

Truth Is NO ONE could play Roth. I can not truly think about an actor who could play him, He's just the fucking man, and I could never see anyone playing him in a movie.

So what's your point?

The movie "ROCKSTAR" and "ALMOST FAMOUS" did well at the Box Office.

A story about the Greatest Frontman in Rock n' Roll History? Huge Box Office Draw....

Plain & simple.

You just proved my point, moron

ROCKSTAR had Mark Wahlberg playing the Lead, not some nobody

Almost Famous had Kate Hudson and Jason Lee

These people have all been in sucsessful movies, and are a draw.

Yes, the "story" is a draw, but if you think a MAJOR Hollywood Studio is going to make it WITHOUT a bankable STAR as the lead, you have no idea what you're talking about.

The premise of the the thread is borderline ridiculous anyway, but if we're going to "talk" about the possibility, at least bring a SHRED of legitimacy to it by talking about serious candidates....

But thanks for bringing up 2 movies which proved MY point.

Yes He's very playable. But Is there any Actor out there on the A and B list you can think of off the top you head that could play him?. I can't really. Maybe you could Lounger I've seen you're acting credits at IMDB.com you were in a pretty popular movie but they said you were uncredited.

Owen Wilson wasn't a good suggestion either, and he hasn't carried a movie by himself.

Disagree, respectfully. I have never seen Cage act "charged" enough to play a character like Roth - he is always so lethargic. And, IMO, not very convincing either. Wilson? Dunno - he could probably play it off better than anyone suggested so far. Maybe Russell Crow? He is pretty intense and definitely can draw on his own reservoir from being a pretty big partier.

Has anyone seen "Brotherhood Of The Wolf"? It was a French horror movie that played in the US in 2001. While I was watching it, I was thinking how much the lead actor, Samuel Le Bihan, resembles DLR--take a look for yourself (and yes, he speaks English):

Wow, he does look like Roth in the "Pretty Woman" video.
