    Alcohol BANNED for Jet-Pats MNF

Alcohol Sales Banned From Jets-Pats Monday Game
Nine Fans Were Arrested at Jets-Saints Matchup in November

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (Dec. 20) - Alcohol won't be sold during Monday night's game between the Jets and Patriots at the Meadowlands in an attempt to quell rowdy fan behavior.

The ban comes after nine fans were arrested during the Jets-Saints game Nov. 27. One man was charged with stabbing two fans in a restroom, and a state trooper broke his leg while trying to eject a fan who reportedly threw a beer bottle.

Jets spokesman Ron Colangelo said Tuesday the ban was put in place to protect fans. The Jets and New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority made the joint decision.

"It's for precautionary reasons, to provide for the safety and comfort of our fans," Colangelo said.

Colangelo said alcohol will be available at the Jets' season finale Jan. 1 against Buffalo, with kickoff set for 1 p.m. EDT.

Earlier this year, NJSEA president George Zoffinger pledged to deal with the problem of drunk fans.

I see this as having the reverse effect.

1- People are going to get shit-faced tanked up prior to the game, hoping the deeper the buzz, the more quarters it will last....

2- People are going to be smuggling in booze. But not beer, too bulky. They'll only smuggle high octane hooch....

    Prohibition doesn't work. Never has.

I heard the BILLS vs. BRONCOS game was was one of the worst in twenty years. They cut off beer sales after the first qtr. But it's tough to drink beer with a paper bag on your head anyways. I wonder how long they'll be selling beer though if the JETS are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs? That always makes for a banner game.

          Merry fucking Christmas.

Their drop for the night should triple.

You guys remember the days when you could smuggle in booths? Ahh, the good ol' pre-9/11 days. Fucking terrorists!

I used to wear a nice winter jacket, stuffed with Molson or Buds...

If we can't smuggle booze into events......THEN THE TERRORISTS HAVE WON.

Unfortunately, the stadium is in the middle of swamps and landfills. It's not like you can park, go to a bar and then walk to the stadium.
