Rolling Stones 'Too Old' for Their Own Concert

Rolling Stones 'Too Old' for Their Own Concert

Organizers of their Super Bowl gig have banned audience members over 45.

    Thursday, January 5, 2006

Veteran rockers The Rolling Stones are too old to attend one of their own concerts - after organizers of their forthcoming Super Bowl gig banned audience members above the age of 45.

The National Football League (NFL) finale next month will see the band perform in front of 2,000 volunteers at Detroit's Ford Field during half time.

But middle-aged fans have been barred from the guest list because organizers fear they are not young enough to dance, sing and cheer in front of football supporters both in the stadium and watching on TV.

The controversial rule means the British rockers, who boast a combined age of 245, would be excluded from their own show.

An NFL spokesman, however, has defended the decision, explaining, "You have to attend rehearsal and be able to stand for long stretches of time. And you have to run on to Ford Field with 2,000 other folks."

Well here is who I want to play the halftime show. And it won't cost several million to book him:

Rolling Stones don't belong on endless stadium tours and slapping their name and music on every product/ad coming down the pipe.

Stones belong in dirty, dingy arenas and large clubs.

Rock and Blues shouldn't be sanitized and used to gather yuppies in Fed Ex Field at $200 a pop.

Anyone else just get nauseous at what the Stones have turned into? Think it all started with the Steel Wheels tour and these guys just making a total effort to sell out every last bit of credibility and rawness they were still able to muster...

...I dunno. Am I wrong here?

No, I think it started during the "Tattoo You" tour, in which they had a cologne sponsor it.
