Just reading some of the threads its obviious alot of CVH fans want Warner Bros to release all the Van Halen footage instead of the 'live without a proper singer' and the measly video hits.
I bet 100.00 this will all be re-released once the 'reunion' becomes a reality.The question is has anyione sent an email to daves studio from his morning show about this?

A few years ago, I pressed the issue of the old concert footage, in particular the Oakland footage, during a conversation with DLR. Dave told me he had TONS of video and film footage from live shows and backstage parties in his archives. He didn't seem to be interested in releasing any of the material but did state that he believed Ed would nix the idea anyway. Ed controls the VH name, so for Dave to release any of his footage, he'd have to get Ed's permission.

Ultimately, I was surprised that Dave really wasn't interested in at least TRYING to get Ed sign on to some sort of CVH video project.

One of the coolest places to see a show, built in the 1800's

the balcony literally bounces up and down when the crowd starts dancing or jumping , you can see it from the floor when you look up

The name "Snade Krellmans" is a joke and, quite frankly, I can't believe that any CVH fan would think otherwise. Think about it. He's apparently "Dutch" and his name includes the word "krell". Any self-respecting VH fan knows what krell is. Does Krell Wars ring a bell? If not, go pick up a copy of Crazy From The Heat.

Clearly the name is some sort of inside joke. Probably a reference to Alex, all coked up, running around backstage with a handheld super 8.

There was definitely someone who came onstage late in the show during the "1980 Invasion" tour with a film camera, and it wasn't super-8. Here in Tucson, the cameraman was onstage maybe 30 seconds, filming the audience. If they did it here, and elsewhere, there must be tons of footage somewhere, but maybe not what would be considered a standard concert film shoot.

I was 11 at the time. I think I'd dig the show a thousand times more now. Hash pipes passed around and frisbees flying across the arena.

Someone definitely needs to track down Mr. Krellmans, whatever his real name is.

I know we've all asked the question: Why do the Sisters resist putting out any concert footage from CLASSIC VAN HALEN?

Fear of DAVEs popularity?

Scared the SHEEP will finally see what a SHAM the band has been since the original lineup broke up?

EVH is mentioned in the ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS!!!

They could do like Jimmy Page and PURCHASE any decent video themselves. The 1970 concert that opens the LED ZEPPELIN DVD wasn't owned by the band. Page recently purchased it & had it digitally restored. With the abundance of WARNER BROTHERS film & the outside sources, there would be an EXCELLENT film of CLASSIC VAN HALEN in their PRIME.

I know some of this is common knowledge for the Vet's of the ARMY. Thought I'd share this with those who are interested.

The same thing happened in Toronto @ Maple Leaf Gardens.Same tour. I remember thinking they were gonna release some thing for sure..

It's a rewriting of history, is what it is. Alex and Ed probably hate to remember the fact that they were once taken SERIOUSLY. That radio show from the WACF tour that diamondjimi posted says it all. Can you imagine anyone getting so worked up over beer-commercial music like the 5150 album?

The whole bad dream of the last twenty years of Van Halen made many former fans, like myself, disregard everything the Van Halen brothers did. The good thing about sites like this is that anyone can go through the old footage and see where the magic lies, and it sure as hell isn't with Sammy Hagar.

After so many years of bad vibes from the VH bros, it is seriously shocking to see the footage from 1981 and remember what a terrifyingly great band they were.

Jealousy is involved, as many on this site have pointed out. Seeing the footage of Dave, even that Letterman show posted here, shows what a perfect front man he was, and makes the last twenty years seem like a joke.

The sheer stupidity of it all...erasing your own history...

If someone gets ahold of the master prints of those CVH shows, cleans up the audio and video, and puts it out on an official relase ON IT'S OWN (no relasing it alongside a bunch of Van Hagar crap where I have to pay for some live version of Love Comes Walking In just to hear/see CVH), I'd pay some serious money for that shit.

Would shell out up to $100 easy for a 5-hour DVD of that stuff. Would hazard a guess that there are many others who would, too.

Oh, well. Just another blown opportunity by the Van Halens to make SERIOUS money and make people happy in the process. Not to worry. The way those two operate, there'll be plenty of other oddball choices that'll keep us scratching our heads and wondering what the fuck were they THINKING (?!) for years to come.

I think it was in his book that Dave said he used to invite a "camera crew" onstage and tell the audience they were filming. The cameras had no film. It was either in the book or some interviews... I know he said it.

well,the video is kinda grainy and dark,but watchable. the audio is
about a b or b+,tinny. i think it is super 8 with sound,but it still rips.
it is just under 30 minutes,so most of the gig is there,with a few cuts.
