It is true, the show is running a second season this summer. It doesn't say what band yet, but what a joke it would be if it were VH. Could they tarnish there legacy anymore? Check it out for yourself. www.rockstar.msn.com

How is it "true" is nothing has been said about it yet?

Because DAVE supposedly said so? I think Dave throws out whatever is on the top of his head...

And if it is true, well, VAN HA___ will be exposed as the national train-wreck they've become...

But I really can't imagine this, I mean, it's not like anybody gives a shit about Michael HUTCHENSE-less"INXS" anymore...

Hey, don't knock INXS! They sold out all 500+ seats at the Chinook Winds Casino out here inside of a few weeks!

He's saying "It's True" that the show will continue for a season 2...

and I don't think Burnett would do a season 2 unless he has a deal with a band big enough to at least get some moderate viewage...

VH? I think it's still a possibility...even though they'll have you believe it's not...I do think it's interesting that VH didn't give them permission to use their songs last year...

Queen? No...I think they are fine...although that would be interesting

Alice in Chainz?...I'd be interested in watching this show...

lmfao...how about Extreme...

Perhaps a few questions they left out for a future singer to think about?

I think at this point if it is VH, perhaps the one made a clown of (besides the obvious ones: AVH/EVH/MA) SPAM HAGAR since they didn't take him back.

ROTH still sits on the throne and will always and I do believe that for the success of VH on ROCKSTAR....this format and any other desperate attempt they make will fail miserably.

BUT, it will most likely make Mark Burnett and the Execs at CBS or even if they switch networks will make alot of $$$ from high Neilsen ratings.

Ive been reading around and one of the criteria is also a back catalog
of enough Listenable tunes.Showcaseing 3 songs in the bottom 3
for ten weeks without repeating them too often. Not to many band
can even pull that part off.

If Van Halen really was to do this, which I really hope they don't for their own sake, they would become somewhat popular in todays youth again, but for the WRONG reasons. I know first hand that today's youth is very misled about everything.

I think Marty was the sh!t on that show he should have got the Nod, he was captivateing, had a huge voice, a lil bit o pain, in the delivery.

I don't mean captivateing That Way ...Not that there's anything wrong with that, the Dude fronting INXS is a pretty boy not much else.

I, me, Mine, would give Marty a shot on the next rockstar show VH Or
whoever it is about.

Now the Crux of the biscut:::: If VH is the Monkey on the next Show.
It is a testimate to the catch up they have been playing since Dave left the Band.Hagar tried so hard to Imitate Dave.Changed his look,
everthing that Band has done has been in response to Dave.

Daves on the Radio," lets steal his fire".

Once again Dave leads the way to.............. Paradise!

I would like to see Mike, Alex, Ed, playing live with a bunch of diff Singers.

Being as I have not listened, Purchased ,Viewed, Seen, any, Incarnation of Ed, Van Halen or the Huge talent that lies there-in
in 21!!!!!!!! FUKKING!!!!!!!!!!YEARS!!!!!!!!! I miss seeing and listening
to the Van Halen. Even watching them sound check w/out hagar
would satisfy 21 years of refuseing to listen to the fiasco that
was hagar

This my quote from the other thread on this stuff I think it applies her too

I think the success of finding a Frontman for INXS worked due to the fact of Michael Hutchence sad fate. The band deserved to be working, being creative and doing what they love and they all get along...good fate, if you will, with Michael Hutchence blessings if he were here to see it.

VH is not going to have that type of luck....not when this simply boils down to the EGOS.

Possible bands that might participate besides VH? Whoever it is, they would have had to be pretty big to generate interest.
If it is VH, do you think Ralph from the Atomic Punks will enter. I saw them the other night in Phoenix at the Marquee theater, and they were great as usual. It would be interesting to watch. Sad, yet interesting, and the final nail in the coffin.

Okay, maybe the INXS one was decent enough, I didn't watch it so I don't know. HOWEVER....INXS was never the type of band Van Halen was. VH back in the day were kings...LEGENDS. Right up there with Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, etc. Would you tune in to see "Rock Star: Led Zeppelin"?

Talk about GAH!!!!!

When a band has risen to the level that VH was once at - pretty much the SOUNDTRACK for all teenagers in the 70's - to relegate themselves to THIS is a f*cking travesty.

They should just fade into the sunset or get Dave back, because anything else makes the once mighty a joke. They'll end up a homogenized, watered-down, safe radio band...much like they were with Sammy
Yes I do...because it's people starting out their careers, not trying to fill the shoes of the unreplaceable.

An Open Letter to Eddie Van Halen
On the Occasion of putting the final nail in the VH coffin

Dear Eddie:

Well, you're at it again. The road to ruin takes another detour as you try to find yet another way to hang on to your rock star status before you self implode and end up in an alley somewhere.

I love you, Eddie - in that rock-star god kind of way. I appreciate everything you brought to the genre and I am the first to bring up your name in "greatest guitar players" conversations. But come on, man. Stop wearing your ass on your hat, if you know what I mean.

I think any time a lead singer leaves a band, that band should not carry on with its original name. A new singer changes the dynamic, the entire face of the band. It becomes different. So I was a little taken aback when you all decided to carry on the VH name without Dave. But, hey - your band, your prerogative. And this really has nothing to do with Sammy or Gary Cherone.

Well, yes it does. It has to do with you (and we know it's you, Eddie, and not Michael Anthony or even Alex, who most people couldn't pick out of a lineup) and the way you have bastardized the Van Halen name ever since the first break up. I don't want to get into the whole Eddie v. Sammy/Gary thing, but it's just part and parcel of the bigger picture. The fact is, Eddie, that you have never thought of anyone but yourself, least of all the fans who bought your records, went to your show, lifted you to rock god status, and stood by you even when it was apparent that you had become a belligerent, drunken jackass.

I'm not sure what you're trying to prove by agreeing to do this show. Is it that you want to hang on to rock and roll lifestyle for a bit more? Or is that you are finally read to let go of the last shred of dignity you might have had and just go down in blazing flames finally? Really, this isn't so much about the band appearing on Rock Star as it is with your insistence on carrying on with the Van Halen name. Yea, it's your name. But how hard would be to change the band to Eddie Van Halen and the Nancy Boys? Well, that's just an example, but you know what I mean. To keep pretending to be something you are not - the Van Halen of old - just makes you look like an old man who sweeps those few remaining strands of hair over his balding scalp. You can look in the mirror and pretend you are VH all you want, it doesn't make it so.

People are laughing at you, Eddie. They are reading this article and talking about it many rock forums and the words being used the most are pathetic and washed-up and fucking asshole. And this isn't just DLR fans like me, but from the stalwarts who stuck with you even through the abomination known as Van Halen III, and even the newer generation of VH fans, the young kids like my son who recognize the band for what they were, not what they are now. How am I going to tell him? This will be worse than when he found out there was no Santa Claus, worse than when the Yankees lost to the Red Sox. Reality tv? Searching for a lead singer on a weekly show filled with drama, fighting between band members, wannabe David Lee Roth's and, jesus, man, Eddie Van Halen doing his guitar god thing on reality tv. It sounds like a joke.

You should have quit trying to resurrect VH a long time ago. You should have given the band another name and moved on. You have turned one of the most celebrated hard rock bands into an embarrassment. I would have rather seen VH appear on an episode of "What Ever Happened To..," than to have them brought to life again in this incarnation. Embarrassing, Eddie. For you, for VH fans, for everyone except the producers of the show who know damn well that everyone will be turning in to see this train wreck.

Thanks for killing whatever good name VH had left, Eddie. Why don't you just f-f-f-ade away like most rock stars?

Sincerely,

A former fan of yours

Here's one more and I'll stop. This chick is Kickin ' Ed's ass. I think she's alil harsh, Ok Way Harsh, Ed still cool and i don;t feel quite so
Down w/ this person. But the line has been drawn come out swinging .

1. Van Halen is a joke to the public...comparing them to Led Zeppelin is absolutely absurd...even the classic version at this point. Eddie has shit on the VH name so much...that it will NEVER carry that Zepp status that they could have...

2. Ralph will never front Van Halen...

3. Marty Casey sucked...like the whole rest of them...jesus christ...that fucker as the lead singer of VAN FUCKING HALEN????

Its already out. I have it.

Marty Casey and the Lovehammers.

The band isn't a stranger to the stage.

I liked Marty on the show as well, but I'm glad he didn't win the spot. JD will have to fit a mold or they bounce him quick. Marty can be his own guy. Their sound is more what kids are listening to but there's some good stuff on it besides that "Trees" song. I personally like "Rain on the Brain".

The INXS release, "Switch" is a cross between "Listen Like Thieves" and "Kick". The band heard something in JD that I didn't. There are some songs that sound like Michael is singing them. I really like the song "Afterglow". I took it as a goodbye letter to Michael and a hello nod to JD...hell, it's probably about a grilled cheese sandwich or a public execution...who knows.

Got tickets to see both when they come to town.

All my up down round an round around this site, i figure with all my inimate un-questionable logic (ah-hum -cough).The next Van Halen album should be with 10 lead singers like what Carlos Santana has been doing
lately.Showcaseing the Band w 10 outside influences.See if they can
even work with Other Than Eds Rigid structure of The VH sound.
Give into something other than the VH sound ..?

Yeah, if you did a pre-order then they included an extra cd jacket autographed by the entire band.

The record companies want to cry broke but if they did more creative merchandising like this people would still buy instead of download their music.

I didnt like rockstar but had to watch the train wreck. was cool to see people suck. thome is right! marty was the best on the show and I was shocked he didnt win. if INXS wanted to look to the future marty was it. JD is a poser and very plastic. total poser. marty was real and captured the audience.

but it wasnt a suprise INXS went the JD route as they were to scared to go the route that was totally different than MH.

as for VH. i want to see them on the show. if you thought INXS was a train wreck boy are we gonna see a classic band take its last long walk off that short pier.

Until then......where the *ell is DLR getting this information???? After all, his new employer is CBS and ROCKSTAR is a CBS program.....so something is getting communicated to DLR down the CBS Pipeline......?????
