Hi, sorry if this was discussed earlier. I never posted here before. I was looking for a myspace he may have for the show- some other DJs on 92.3 have them for their shows. Anyway....
I was really enjoying Daves show. I found it funny and entertaining. Actually I really have not enjoyed radio that much in awhile. I got bored of Stern
As soon as his sister came on, the show just got real boring. Hes too toned down now, i miss his girl stories.
I think his sisters way too serious and boring. At least that other girl was funny.
Way too boring now, too bad.

I agree with you, Kristal, but, sadly, you've come to the wrong place. This is a fan site, and the show's problems are glossed-over.

As someone who saw VH when they were an opening act and loved DLR's 1st incarnation, I feel your sadness. But I'm listening to Thursdayu's replay right now, and I'm getting sick (beg. 2nd hr.) of Dave and his sis carrying on as if they were in bed together... freaky!

I hope the show lasts!

the main problem seems to be that dave is the ultimate interviewee , he's a one off , unique , amazing character , but a pretty weak interviewer , unfortunately he's still stuck in 1986 and think's he's a big time rock star rather than a deluded hasbeen*

sad..

And I also am an old time fan...

Criticism is honesty and we would be fools and blindfolded if we where unable to admitt to some flaws!

Personally, Dave's show is much like his personality...he may from one topic that you may not find so amuzing, but then he'll discuss something else that might be amazing....like the end of today's show. Thanking his sister Lisa for co-hosting and he let her answer a call.....her suggestion was to take a call, let DLR answer the caller on any topic and she will give the truth.

Caller asked what the VH bros. thought about REUNION. DLR clearly stated that he calls once or twice a year, the VH Bros. are still holding on to hurt feelings, but DLR said its inevitable for a Reunion to happen.

DLR said "What are you going to do? Wait until Freddy Mercury is gone and the band can't do it" (I'm paraphrasing)

"Eddie was never really married...he wore the ring, but he was married to the music like me".

"Wouldn't you like to revive your youth for about a 100 days"

DLR said he did about 5 cuts with VH that will blow us away and be as potent and rock that compare to Van Halen 1 album.

ROTH RULZ......but you gotta listen to the whole enchilada....he's full of surprises and he doesn't lie.

lofl... yeah, like when Dave's interesting(?), ill-informed sister says "Gee, I don't know", or "I don't know anything about the subject, but I think...", or "Dave whatta YOU think? as an answer. And Dave cracks himself up after every clever (to him) statement he makes, but that's just him, that'll never change.

Said it before, hope this show lasts. I really do enjoy most of it.

Stoned? I don't think ya gotta be stoned or a stoner to appreciate Dave.

If you are getting the information from the critics, you are reading crappy rhetoric. Why would you believe everything you read?

Dave's all about TRUTH...he's not into faking crap. If you want that, you might need to go over to Satellite.

I wouldn't want DAVE to fake crap...I want it REAL.

Krystal,

Don't let some of the guys here who'll bend over and grab their ankles for Dave at any time stop you from posting your opinions on the show.

Dave's made mistakes in his career just like anybody else and can be criticized/scrutinized just like any other rock star.

If the concert consisted of a frontman other than DIAMOND DAVE, you should ask for a refund as being an unsatisfied customer.

If you have an idea for ROTH's show, email him....I do believe they read the emails. It may well be that the largest radio audience is actually those listening into the streaming via internet. So send in your thoughts...LISA ROTH today touched somewhat on an email that I sent in yesterday and someone was brilliant enough to ask the right question about a VH Reunion while she was on the air.

I don't think you have to be stoned to enjoy him, just have a sense of humour. I think alot of people would find him funny and entertaining.

I think he should talk about his personal life more, like what he did on the weekend or went last night, stuff like that.

His sister is totally clueless about everything. At least Robin knew about stuff he was taking about and had some celeb stories. His sister added nothing to the show than being serious and annoying.

I notice when callers talk to him and tell him their a fan, he seems a little irriated and doesn't care to hear it. Hes just like ok, "get on with it"

Also I just think they should set up a myspace for his show like other shows on 92.3 have, so he can get some feedback from the listeners, maybe post some photos from the show, news, stuff like that.

I personally think that Dave is an interesting fellow...an asshole but interesting. He has a lot of experience which I believe is mostly with men because I have never ever have seen a photo of him with a women. Yes , yes , I've seen him with models in photos, albums's and other shit which is promotional but for sure I have never seen him coming out of restaurant, on a beach or somewhere else with another women.

He was the king with van halen, now he is Dave, a hasbeen. Which is not bad , he was somebody but now he is no one.

If the guy try to be more humble, accept the fact that he has not made good music in so many years, he has no voice left, then maybe he would be more appreciated.

But, to finish, Dave critizice Sammy, Sammy is a much better musician and better singer. His solo stuff is not very good but when he was in VH that was pretty good.

So come on you fans which don't know anything about nothing!!!

thought the time with her would be cool.

But I also said he will probably lay off and be a lil "Brotherish"

I don't think hes a nobody and a has been, i think most bands and musicians have a time when their very famous. Just because your not as famous as you used to be does not make you a has been. To me he was one of the greatest frontman and alot of singers copied/tried to be like him. And he made great music with VH and solo.

To me to call somebody a has been, would apply to someone who was once famous with one hit, like some 80s artists.

As for him being seen with women, hasn't he had alot of ex-girlfriends?
I read in a book about Madonna that they hooked up one time, I don't know how true that is.

Douche . . .

Look, if EVH was a guitar player instead of a DIRTBAG and a RIPOFF ARTIST FENCING OTHER FOLKS' PLAYING, you'd make sense about EVH, who is sister number uno.

Since EVH is a DIRTBAG, you show yourself as a YOUNG, unlearned fellow into culture you have neither studied nor understood. Come ON. It's spelled D-I-R-T-bag. It's what he is. Douche is what he did, but he did it with DIRT. Like Joe NO!

I agree....but please give it time. David Lee Roth is not the 25 year old rock stud he was back in the 80's. He's got the same personality (Thank god!) and that's all that matters. People expect the Dave they have seen or heard on stage to be the same on the radio...but with rules and regulations...FCC..ect...It's a completely different ball game. Let's hang in there for him...he's givin us all many many years of great music and smiles. Now it's time to give some back to Dave.

Back in the 80's, when she started, Madonna was chubby and didn't know how to dance so well.
She invented a cool style but was not really pretty.

In the late 80's/early 90's, she really took a turn... she hired private chef, started working out everydays
(almost all day) and was thought how to move by dance guru Martha Grahams.

Now in 2006, she looks better than ever plus she has experience...

Too much of what Dave said is either repeated from his autobiography or has already been told before in interviews. If Dave would just wander various parts of NYC or just experiment with Peyote in the Arizona Desert, then that would make for some amazing radio.

Madonna was rail thin when she came to NY to start her career. She was never chubby in the 80s, just not very thin like she is now, she looked like she weighed about 120.
She did get a scholarship to college for dancing and was accepted to Alvin Alley , so she was a great dancer.
I peronsally prefer her less masculine.

Ok, so she "manipulated?" I'll never deny that she's been street-smart and marketed herself well.

Regardless and please name me ONE song of hers that's absolutely stellar and deservingly should give her a rep as both a legend and a diva? She's always been great at media manipulation. With that I'm goin' back several yeeyas with that sex book, the controversial pepsi ads and what have you?

All the while there have been rock and roll wimmin' like Chrissie Hynde, Stevie Nicks, Joan Jett, Pat Benatar, etc who explode with sexuality without having to market it. They just have/had "it" and they also have/had the said talent to back "it" up.

I totally agree...

She understood very quickly that SEX sells and decided she was gonna ca$h on that, as much as men have done for years... but instead of exploiting other people's bodies, she exploited her own.

She had just open the door for all the "I have nothing substential to offer but I have big boobs"

Men generally prefer "something to squeese" and they would prefer a little more than less...

It is a woman thing to be obsessed with being skinny (fashion mags. "oblige")...
most men I know where never into skinny or muscular.

For me, looking like Madonna is a sign of strict discipline and strong will, and THAT is something I admire

I know both you and I have discussed working out a bit prior in past threads and I beyond admire that. Cool that you admire Madonna's "will" and stuff. :) I'm not giving YOU shit persay, I just think Madonna is a one in a gazillion. She's a beyond talentless act who got lucky. How she's EVA maintained said "popularity" just floors me?

She can't act (seriously, hasn't EVERY flick she's eva made been a total flop? Excluding the one of her tour where she just acted like a ho' meaning, just was herself?) worth a damn, her "singing" 'tis mediocre to say the least... Well, she can dance, I'll admit that. I seriously don't see any selling point with her anymore?

'Tis a big case of the "I don't get it???"

Just personal preferences.

Alot of rock fans do not like Madonna, I think if your not into that type of music your not going to like her. Understandable.
I think shes an amazing performer and a living Icon in league with Elvis. Shes an incredible singer, dancer, songwriter. If you see her live you'll be blown away and she doesn't lip sync.
"Like a Prayer" is stellar, She has so many amazing songs.

I thought she was beautiful in the 80s, she was one of the biggest sex symbols.

Even though I dont like the muscular look, she does look amazing. Most women at 47 are flabby. I would rather be muscular.

You have to both be kidding me and yourself even comparing her or even attempting to put M'Dunya in the same league (or even the same sport) with Elvis?!?!?! LMAO!!! That's just fucking stupid!!! I don't care if you like her songs or what have you but that's one of the dumbest things I've EVA heard!!!

"Most" women at 47 are "flabby?" WTF?

M'Dunya shouldn't be some sort of icon for her body at this age. Friggin' bullshit. I hit the gym and swim at least five times a week and I see a lot of women in their 40's and 50's who happen to be in beyond stellar shape. She ain't nothin' special. Besides, filter in the fact that she has $$$ to do WHATEVER the fuck she wants. I both admire and respect said "flabby" wimmin' who have a career, children AND muster enough time to keep their bodies nice.

I'd beyond take any of the aformentioned wimmin's bodies, work ethic, determination and spirit over Madonna!!!

I mean "hate" 'tis the opposite of "love" and I love a few wans out theya... ;) Believe me, Madonna doesn't consume my days enough to fall into such a category.

I am absolutely not into Madonna's type of music but I like some of her songs.

Life is such that you sorta HAVE to try other types of music: EX:

I would love workout on "Suicidal Tendencies" and "Iron Maiden", but at my gym., they play top 40.
So I like Madonna, Gwen Stefani, Green Day etc...

I would love to have dinners where we play some: "Primus" or "Jane's Addiction" but my guests prefer
French chanteuses like Arielle Dombasle...

My husband and I like the same kind of music at 90%...
So we each have our 10% that only gets blasted when the other is out.

Her hair looks like that- 70s flip because it goes with her whole 70s disco look for the new album and it works, alot of designers and stores have been selling her new look- the purple outfits-the jacket -knock off of her gucci jacket, sunglasses, etc.
So shes still setting fashion trends.
Shes also one of the best selling artists of all time.
The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry has just published its updated list of the 150 highest selling artists ever. Madonna appears at number 4, right behind the Beatles, Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley, with a total of 275 Millions records sold worldwide from 1984 to late 2005

And that's exactly how Madonna started and what had made her so special in her starts...
She started the "street smart" trend, using anything and everything she could find, ripping it off, tying it up etc...

She gave hope and confidence to all of us who couldn't afford "Polo RL", Lacoste etc...

Besides that "street smart" trend... Madonna had never invented anything as far as fashion.
She just popularize what the designers do and make it commercial...

Then, it is up to us (wicked designers :p ) to interpret that, and come up with versions of
what the young and trendy consumer wants...

I go to Asia where they produce those clothes, and the top designers are also sending their production in the poor countries... cheap labor is there at EVERY level of fashion.

You know, I might work in the garment industry but all it does for me (besides trips and $$$), is to turn me off about all that logo/brand crap.

I go to Asia where they produce those clothes, and the top designers are also sending their production in the poor countries... cheap labor is there at EVERY level of fashion.

So I would personnaly be damn if I would wear a shirt that is being bought for $1.50 USD and sold to me at $150.00 just because they slaped a logo on it!

The little horsies are fine and in fact, Polo shirts are great shirts. Superb quality. But then again, like you said, are they worth what you pay? How much are you paying for that little horsie? Even though I can well afford it, I won't do it. But, thats me. I've always been like that. When I get something that says "BEBE" (for example) across the front...I won't even wear it out of the house. It may not even leave my closet.

My kids are huge into Abercrombie and Fitch and Hollister, and the quality of those clothes, especially the girls, suck. The jeans are OK, but the tops are shit. If they want that stuff, they can pay for it on their own with money they saved up.

I love Dave's quote: "I look great in Armani, but I usually wear Old Navy".

Good quality shirt (including embloidery logo) = about $2.00-$3.00.
Add to that all the freith, custom, importation fees etc... you are at about $8.00...

So R.L. got the shirt for $8.00, sells it at 50% markup to the store = $16.00 and the store sells it for $32.00...

BUT since his licence (the horsie) adds another pourcentage...
he has to sell to the store at more than the usual 50-60%

How much is a Polo shirt?
The difference between the real value $32.00 and the price he sells it to the stores is what you pay is for the horsie... (embroidery itself is about .15 cent)...

The stores only make 50% so a lot goes to the licences...

So brands are moslty about image and standing because trust me... you don't need a logo to have the quality!

I really haven't lost interest in the show. It's just hit and miss while I'm working, not unlike the work I perform. Since everybody's into the quality garment vibe, do you think Roth Radio should make some merch available?

There's a ton of possibilities. Like a take off of the RCA dog looking into a bank of Marshall stacks instead of a gramaphone.

Or a scantily clad oriental chick holding a bagel....

Done properly, the official Roth Radio T-shirt could be an instant classic. Fuck, baby-dolls' and hats' as well!

He does read his emails--the ones that tell him to do suck-ass radio. His guests: sister, uncle, teachers and anyone else who will kiss his sad washed-up ass. He is riveting radio inasmuch as you have to listen because it sucks a little more each minute of each day. WHO CARES what he did last night? It probably involved a young fillipino boy. I'm calling in this week, his suckiness is fascinating.

Wow. All this bitterness from a SHEEP douche funnel...

Interesting how you seem to hate DLR as if he "fucked your girlfriend" or something...

No matter, he's partly responsible for some of the best rock music ever made...

Surely the least you could do is to take time out of your sad, bitter, pathetic little life to throw him a bone for that?

Never said he didn't do great music with VH--he did , in the studio. Live, he sucked as a "singer" he just pranced around the stage trying to take the spotlight from Ed. And since he left VH---where's his great solo songs?? I'll tell you --there ain't any. California Girls?, Just a Gigolo?, Tobacco Road? yeah he wrote all of them. Walk away Dave, walk away. Go, Scoot. Vamoose. Sheepalackadookeeelakklookinfoamoopeee.

Really? How many bootlegs do you have? I have about 20 at this point and DAVE sounds good in each in every one of them... His voice sounds NO DIFFERENT between the boots and studio productions... No more so than any other singer live.

And if you watch the the Oakland vids very carefully, you'll see Roth kneel before the Guitar-God in a praise of his solos...

But I guess for an EDDIE SHEEP, you'll cherry-pick what ever BS arguments made, no matter how wrong they are...

No one ever criticized DAVE as a live singer until they needed some rationale to justify why SAMMY HAGAR was worth a turd in VAN HAGAR...

Personally, I think that SAMMY's Janis Joplin lite, with balls, singing style sucks on an album or live...

But that's my subjective opinion, not a 'fact.'

You forgot "Yankee Rose," "Ladies Night In Buffalo," "Goin' Crazy," "Just Like Paradise," "A Lil' Ain't Enough," etc...

He had three-and-a-half solid-selling solo albums to VAN HAGAR's what? Four studio albums, which is much more than 95% of the music industry can say...

BTW, what's your hero doing today Ed-SHEEP? I mean, if you're going to knock ROTH, at least be honest about Guitar-Hero's drunken sloth...

I thought about the ROTH RADIO T-SHIRT as well......Forget the Oriental Chick, she needs to be ITALIAN or BETTY PAGE.....Dave's always used the 40's Pin Up girls for his posters....he's into KITSCH....

Who's a great artist out there to do this.....I want to put in my order and wear them proudly and pass out to my friends and local Radio Stations.

It takes someone with brilliance to re-do a classic and put your own spin on it and make it a HIT.

I've seen several DLR "Solo" Concerts and he KICKS ASS...Voice and Stage Presence.

You are either DELUSIONAL or at someone else's concerts....but you were certainly NOT at a DAVID LEE ROTH CONCERT.

Tip of Advice: Know your facts before you post..;)
