Bands you always dismissed as shit, accidently saw them live and was very impressed

Are there any bands you always dismissed as utter shite, but accidently saw them live (supporting someone else, or at a festival), and started to like?

Just a little thought I've been having, cos when I saw Alice Cooper in November, Twisted Sister were supporting. I always just dismissed them ("if they have tio dress in drag, they must be desguising the fact that they are shit"). But, they were fookin' excellent, and I enjoyed every minute of their 75-minute set.

        Y+T.

Never thought they were shit, just never bothered with them.

Saw them supporting Whitesnake and those guys rocked the place.

I quite like Cheap Trick. I like the fact that they've never really sold oout, despite the fact that they have everything it takes to be commercially successful.

Never quite thought he was shit, but saw Billy Joel in late 1984, and I was amazed at both how good he and his band were, and at the crowd response more than anything else; the audience was going beserk.

I'm not saying this guy was good....his music is still gayer than gay- but at the SARS Stock show in Toronto, one of the acts was Justin Timberlake, and man he was against it. No one knew why he was on the bill, and from the second he took the stage, he was booed and people threw shit at him. But I had to give him credit, he didn't come out and do any gay dancing, and he didn't try playing dance music. He just did a couple of songs, let his band carry things with a jam, accepted the boos, told the crowd he was there "to see the motherfucking Stones too" and then got off. I wouldn't say I enjoyed his act, but that, plus his appearance as host of SNL shortly after (which was pretty good) made me respect him a lot more than I did.

I'd have to honestly say Kansas and Stryper. I saw Kansas at the Loudoun Music Fest, and the crowd's reaction was phenominal. As for Stryper, I saw them at the MCI Center in about July, and they rocked the fucking house down. I forgot they were a christian band

Probably Skid Row or The Stray Cats.

I went to see Bad Brains open up for Skid Row....much to my surprise, Skid Row held their own and kicked ass...Bach was screaming his ass off.

I went to see Bow Wow Wow because of the hot chick with the mohawk...plus they had a really good guitar player. Fucking Setzer put on a guitar clinic...it was really LOUD. The Stray Cats' were a grate live band.
