Secondly his manager's 20% of a reunion tour kind of makes the radio gig income look like very small change.

Roth's motivation could be ego, the fans, the legacy of the band or just money. Maybe a mixture of all of that but what more can he do?

Just think if they actually did it: Dave's hitting the high notes better than he has in years, and if Ed got the fire under his ass again...it would be a magnificent thing to behold. Again. But I was lucky enough to see it once. I wish there was some way to communicate to someone who never saw it how awe-inspiringly, jaw dropping-ly devastating they were. None of the live footage I've seen truly does them justice. They were UNTOUCHABLE live. There's a reason why no one wanted to follow them as an opening act after their first tour, y'know? I mean, they're all hammered in the US Festival and they still ruled above all, because they were so tight they FUCKED UP together. What other band could reunite and have fans of so broad a demographic, on such a large scale? If done right, it would be the defining tour of the next five years, and we'd still be talking about it....:D

Shit, far as reuniting, Roth's been calling out the Van Halens in print and on tv ever since 1996. Read any of his interviews from 1997, 1998 or 2003 and view his sporatic appearances on MTV/VH1 in 1997 and 2003; the dude has been ready to go for a decade now. What he's saying on his radio show is nothing new.

Probably took the radio gig just to keep things moving along and keep it interesting; we all know Roth ain't gonna sit around and twiddle his thumbs waiting for Ed, Al and the bass player to pull their heads out of their asses.

Dunno about jaded, as I'll still be more than a little curious to see what they do SHOULD CVH reunite (even though part of me DOESN'T want it to happen anymore if only because it might not live up to expectations...and seeing CVH reunite and do a tour-by-numbers cash grab with an oldies-only setlist would be fucking bogus. EVERY other fucking group does that predicatble shit, and if CVH aren't able to get back together and produce some killer NEW material then they shouldn't even fucking bother), but...
