David Lee Roth: Lowdown Reports High Anxiety
By Chuck Taylor

It may be free, but it sounds anything but easy.

The New York Daily News is reporting in Lloyd Grove’s “Lowdown” column that David Lee Roth is
behaving like a first-class diva at his home base, CBS Radio talk WFNY (Free FM)
New York.

The rocker, who has already weathered a storm of bad reviews as the eastern region morning show
successor to Howard Stern, “is impossible to work with, a real arrogant, self-
righteous ass,” said an anonymous Free FM staffer.

The source told Grove that Roth fails to prep for his show and “is out the door 5 minutes after the
show, unless he is forced to record a commercial or re-record ones he made
errors on. All the execs know they made the two biggest errors in radio history: letting Stern go to
Sirius and hiring this moron Roth.”

The report goes on to say that Roth insisted that WFNY GM Tom Chiusano extensively remodel Stern’s
former studio, but now he refuses to use it, claiming that it is infested
with asbestos. "He swears he is allergic to dust and smoke, but smells like an ashtray," the source
said.

The staffer claims that Roth and his manager Matt Sencio “are totally out of control and out of
their league when it comes to producing a radio show.”

In addition, said the source, Roth "hates Tom and is vocal about that to almost everyone he talks
at. It's almost like he wants to get fired, and take the money and run."

CBS Radio had no comment on the report.

I heard Gary Cherone will be the next singer of Van Halen and not Dave....what the fuck is up with this? Is there any truth to this? Do ya think Lloyd Grove knows? Probably so. He's got his pulse on the very latest entertainment news.

That post reminds me of semi famous people who trot out the line "Don't you know who I am" at nightclub entrances.

Whenever an individual is underestermated rest assured that the nobody in question ends up being somebody.

Received this blurb from a friend of mine (she's a Stern-tard)...

here is what NY news says about DLR's 'vacation"
Date: Mon, 27 Feb 2006 19:47:06 -0800

FreeFM crumbling..

"As of February 27, 2006 the David Lee Roth Show was put into hiatus in all of its markets. According to published reports in the New York Daily News (See Here) reportedly Roth was complaining to WFNY-FM General Manager Tom Chiusano that that the studio he uses which was renovated following the departure of Howard Stern was infested with asbestos, dust and dust mites but unidentified sources within WFNY claim that Roth is nothing more then a radio diva and he and his manager Matt Sencio are "Out of Control and that Roth is trying to get fired by CBS Radio with full pay". Local DJs in each market will temporarily replace Roth until all of the issues between him and CBS Radio can be resolved."

vacation???

I can believe that...

Dave was complaining about some kind of dust in the air, or something like that...

You gotta laugh though at a guy smoking weed and cigs his whole life being concerned about asbestos.

I'm sure that is true, Howard complained for years about the place. I still don't believe the reason he's off this week is because the studio is in bad shape, it's way more than that.

I was surprised to hear that Roth was out this week when I tuned in yesterday.

The normal afternoon guy (Kidd Chris) in the Philly market (94.1 WYSP) was doing the morning show.

Most of the callers were slamming DLR, saying that he sucked, etc....

What was more disturbing is that Kidd Chris wasn't exactly defending DLR, or saying anything for that matter. In fact, it sounded more like Kidd Chris was lobbying to stay in the morning slot and replace Roth altogether.

Methinks this doesn't bode well for the future of Roth Radio.

Roth is out.
Sorry to say since I liked the show for most parts.

Just think about it. This is the most important time for Dave to build up his show and radio fan base. The guy has not even been in the job for two months and he's going on holiday??

Just doesnt sound right.

Add to that the rumors mentioned in this thread and it seems pretty obvious.

You will notice that in many buildings, there are signs about Asbestos being Cancer causing. I work in a high rise that have these signs posted all over the place!

Asbestos is a silent hazard that I do believe is more harmful in cases.

I'm sorry to hear that, but I still dont think Dave being off this week has ANYTHING to do with his fear of asbestos in his studio. It's way too coincidental he's out the week ratings came out.

That's the whole thing, your dad didn't smoke. My point in saying Dave smokes weed and cigs, (and god knows what else over the years), is that it's rather strange that someone who obviously doesn't have a problem putting that shit in his body would be so worried about asbestos.

hey the ratings have to be there. if so many people are complaining abot roth they have to be listening. I bet they are too, what else is there to liten to ? people like talk radio in the morning!

news said lastnight that infinity is suing stern for breach of contract. saying that he use free FM to promote sirius radio. ya that has a leg to stand on. boy is inifinity stupid and boy are they angry for being dumb and letting the cash cow leave. stupid free radio....lol

Do you work for the tobacco industry?:D

DAVE has ingested a lot of coke and various forms of smoking dried plants, that's true. But let me tell you one thing from training, and from personal experience...

One night (luckily, it was in the middle of the night), the roof collapsed and temporarily closed a place of work once (due to the quick accumulation of snow on one side of the roof from a blizzard and wind blowing all the snow to one side). We reopened and things were cool for about two-weeks, except for the plastic sheeting over the rubble where it looked like a Luftwaffe bomb hit LOL, and the fact that it was in the middle of winter. But, OSHA-testers inspected the air quality, as a mandated precaution, after the building inspectors came through, and supposedly they found asbestos, which permanently closed things. If there is any asbestos coming from the walls, it will cause problems! So, I'm having a hard time believing that there is any sizable amount of airborne asbestos particles that violate EPA/OSHA standards...

FREE FM is terrible in the ratings, not only Dave but Adam Corrola as well. Remember, Dave is a singer/performer, not a DJ. He has done his best. I hope he changes certain things in his show, but I think the end is near for Dave on FREE FM. I spoke to a program director and a DJ from the station and they say it has been hell to work with him. This was all new to Dave but the station has to be at fault as well.

I didn't even bother reading through all the posts.

I saw the ratings. He's been doing this for two months. Do you think Stern had those ratings in the beginning?

Give him a minute...he'll make it happen.

Roth an Roll!
