Just checked Ebay to see how the Van Hagar tickets were moving and to put it bluntly, they're not. No bids on tons of tickets, and many people are going to be lucky to get half of the face value of their tickets. Looks like a lot of people gambled on Van Hagar and lost BADLY!!!!!

While I in no way like to defend Van Hagar, a lot of times the bidding doesn't really get going until the last minute on there, because people figure they won't waste their time submitting a bid 5 days in advance when it'll just get out bid by people at the last second anyway.

You could not even get seats like that if it was the Original Line up. If there were any it would be twice as much in price.

I was 10th row on the floor (center) in 1984 tour at the Forum in Los Angeles. I paid 125 dollars.(that was 1984). I went through a ticket agency to make sure I got the first ten rows. It was so worth it and one reason out of the many is that that was the last tour that Dave and VH did together.

Um, first of all, hi. This is my first post.

I just had to comment though, that yeah, when I saw
VH in about 1981 in San Diego, I had a third row center
seat and I paid $50.00 for it. Which really makes me
feel freakin' old to see how much people are trying
to get for tickets on eBay. I thought 50 bucks was
harsh back then cause I was workin' for $3.25 an
hour and I hadda drive 75 miles to see the show.
One guy on eBay is tryna get 2,000 clams for floor
seats. Come on. Inflation is one thing. But
sorry man, this ain't a $2,000.00 for two seats
kinda show. Greedy much?

It makes me feel thankful as all heck though, that I saw
VH at least once and sometimes twice every year from
1979 to 1983. People who say Sam Hagar is a better
showman than Dave must have never been to one of
those early VH shows. Dave was the consummate
showman. Of all the shows I've been to in my life, and
it's been a lot by now, I still say that DLR is one of the
best showmen in the biz, if not the flat out best. I think
one problem with a lot of people was that a lot of Dave's
wit went over their heads and it made 'em feel kinda
dumb when other people were laughing and they
didn't get it. (Bruce Dickinson and Dani Filth have
the same sort of problem, poor blokes.)

One year, about 1991 or maybe 93, I made the mistake
of going to a Van Hagar show. I so missed VH shows and
I thought, "What the heck, how bad can it be?" Well. It
was really bad. I vowed to never buy another VanHagar
ANYthing. The thing was, Sam couldn't sing that night and
blamed it on smoking too much. (Hello? You're a pro-
fessional. If you can't smoke and sing, then don't
smoke.) So not only could he not sing, he was so drunk
he could barely function, and the band played a total of,
get this, THIRTY FIVE MINUTES. It was a sham and a
disgrace. I will never, ever, go to a Van Hagar show again.
That Van Hagar show was *NOTHING* like the old classic
VH shows of yore. No comparison. Same faces on the
stage, but no life. Like some kind of Disney animatrons,
only the animatrons had more life in them.

Lastly, I kinda scratch my head when some of these Hagar
fans come over here and talk about what a great guy Sam
is and how down to earth he is and all that. Down to earth?
I used to frequent a shady little place on the Strip called the
Rainbow, and I know some of you must know it well. Back
in the day when the big story was that Dave allegedly tried
to run somebody over in the parking lot, ha ha ha. With
his "brown Mercedes with the skull on top" that everybody
talked about with great awe. Anyway, I remember seeing
the great DLR sitting at a table night after night, holding
court like the king of Rock 'n' Roll that he was, and he was
always happy to shake a hand, share a joke, raise his glass.
He was pure class, Dave was, and for all the stuff he ever did
that people thought was over the top or annoying, I never
cared because he gave me some of the greatest rock shows
in my life, and he acted decent and polite and intelligent
when he had to deal with his fans at the Rainbow.

Sam, on the other hand, couldn't even be bothered to
interact with the fans from that stage that night I saw
Van Hagar. No hand slapping, no nothing. When it
came right down to it, I always felt like Dave was a good
guy. A smart guy and a hungry for life kinda guy who
happened to get famous. If he never woulda got famous
he still woulda been a good guy. I never got that feeling
from Hagar. He just seems like somebody who's really
amazed he made it, and he's still not sure why. It's
like he doesn't know how to act, doesn't know what his
public demeanor should be, doesn't know how to be
a grownup. Dave plays around a lot, but he doesn't have
his head so far up his bum he needs a glass bellybutton
to see out. Sam, well, whatever. The screeching for
singing, the silliness, the anchorless arrogance. I don't
get what the appeal is there. Thankfully, I can listen
to the old classic VH stuff and the DLR stuff until I finally
keel over with my headphones on in the rest home.

So, cha-ching, there's about 67 cents of a two-cent opinion
from an old chick who will always love Dave and who remains
painfully disappointed in how things have gone since, well,
Diver Down.

Respectfully,
"SAW"

P.S. Oh and uh, Sarge, don't worry too much 'bout the idiots
over there at VH army. On the opening page they have the
picture of the Morose Four, with the sub-title, "THERE BACK."
Now, I failed English twice, once in high-school and once
in college, but I have enough brain cells left to know that
if you're gonna go plastering banners here and there, at
least have the decency to use spell check. That's uh,
"THEY'RE" back, ya dolts.

What's next? Rite here write naow?
