As a serious point of reference, the US Army actually does in fact play extremely loud and unrelenting rock/metal music to inmates and/or enemies in a standoff situation -somteimes to get them to talk. It was widely reported that they had great success with the Middle Easteners since they have no ear for it. Something tame like Van Hagar would drive them nuts
