I open the floor to Elvis...

Id like to see him re-do Hendrix's Crosstown Traffic again. Clean it up. add some zing...

A lot of people. Sammy Hagar being the most obvious one.

Hmmm. I, too, think Dave's done his share of cover tunes lately. But if I had to suggest some, here are some possibilities:

1. Seagull (Bad Company) --A cool, somewhat haunting, mellow tune that makes you want to stick your toes in the sand, a la Black Sand, Coconut Grove, etc.
2. Couldn't Get It Right (Climax Blues Band)
3. Anything by Black Oak Arkansas--It would be kind of like an "official" nod to Jim Dandy, who obviously was a big influence on Dave.
4. Well All Right (Blind Faith)
5. Hair of the Dog (Nazareth)
6. Something by the James Gang. I know VH did at least one James Gang back in their club days. I have a bootleg somewhere that includes VH doing "Walk Away." Pretty cool tune.

Right Place, Wrong Time by DR John. How he has never done this is beyond me....this song has Dave all over it.

I been in the right place but it must have been the wrong time
I'd have said the right thing but I must have used the wrong line
I been in the right trip but I must have used the wrong car
My head was in a bad place and I'm wondering what it's good for
I been the right place but it must have been the wrong time
My head was in a bad place but I'm having such a good time

I been running trying to get hung up in my mind
Got to give myself a good talking-to this time
Just need a little brain salad surgery
Got to cure my insecurity

I been in the wrong place but it must have been the right time
I been in the right place but it must have been the wrong song
I been in the right vein but it seems like the wrong arm
I been in the right world but it seems wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong

Slipping dodging sneaking creeping hiding out down the street
See me life shaking with every ho' I meet
Refried confusion is making itself clear
Wonder which way do I go to get on out of here

I been in the right place but it must have been the wrong time
I'd have said the right thing but I must have used the wrong line
I'd have took the right road but I must have took a wrong turn
I'd have took the right move but I made it at the wrong time
I been on the trip road but I must have used the wrong car
My head was in a good place and I wonder what it's bad for.

Undone-Guess Who

Thats got Dave all over it to. Girlfriend who goes crazy. Too many of those on Daves resume i bet.

I think he should have one remake on his album. Dave remakes songs like no one else, you have to admit people.

If he has to, how about "I DON'T NEED NO DOCTOR" from HUMBLE PIE. Either that, or, "DIMPLES" by JOHN LEE HOOKER.

DAVE LOVES doing covers!!!

Considering how much Dave loves dance music and his friendship with him, how about Dave collaborating again with Nile Rodgers on something from Chic?

wait...sorry. that idea sucks ass.

First off. I think this thread is fuckin retarded. I dont think the Mighty fuckin DLR should have any cover songs on his albums. Dave does not need to borrow some one else's creativity. Yes the covers he has done are fuckin amazing but why would a distinguished singer and the best front man of all time need to make a cover song. This thread makes me fuckin sick.

DLR FUCKIN RULES !!!!!!!!!!!

no more covers. it didnt work in 2003....the only song i liked on DD was thug pop

i would like to see him offically record Rock Steady by Bad Co. i have a early years cvh bootleg that has them playing that tune and i always thought why didnt they actually record it somewhere on the classic 6 pack. He totally brings his attitude and his game is on in that one

None. No more covers. At least not for a while. It's time for a full-length hard-rock studio album of all new songs written by Dave and his band.

Big Troubles

I think I have the perfect song. He should do an old solo Sammy Hagar tune. :D Sing the fuck out of it and make it go further up the chart than Sam ever could. Like VH did with the kinks. lol Ya know, this at least possible as I believe the record co. usually carries the publishing rights and could give Roth permission to do one. Maybe Montrose. :D That would piss off Sam fans.

You don't need any permission to do a cover.

Big Troubles
02-21-2005, 08:43 PM
No? You would think you have to at least purchase these rights to make a profit from it though? Yeah im sure there is a legality to it. But Im also sure the artist in this case, Sammy, prob wouldn't have any control over who could do his material as long as the record company ok's the monetary issues.

02-21-2005, 08:43 PM
at least, that's what I always figured.

Anybody can cover whatever the hell song they want, without consulting or asking anybody.

They just have to be sure they pay the piper at the end of the day.

You're Invited But Your Friend Can't Come by Vince Neil.

Dave can shreak better than Vince. It'd be metal.
