DISCLAIMER: The guy who posted this link over at Democratic Underground is a notorious DLC shill, so I wouldn't be surprised if the quiz itself is a DLC creation. The lists of candidates, on both Democratic and Republican sides are of course, speculative as there are no declared candidates yet on either side.

That said, it's a harmless way to get a good look at where all the political junkies in this forum are at.

So, take the quiz (http://www.selectsmart.com/plus/select.php?url=08frontrunners) and post your results, just for the Hell of it.

Now, as I said, this DLC sponsored poll is likely to skew things toward their candidates whenever possible. Being Liberal as I am, it's no surprise that Kucinich and Feingold would rank high on my list. But Bill "friend of Sean Hannity" Richardson as #3?? Senator Hairplug (D, MBNA) as #4? The man who rigged the Iowa caucus as my #6?? Not bloody likely. Well at least they didn't put Hillary or Bayh in my top 10.

Reality is that out of this speculative list, the only ones I'd realisitically vote for would be Feingold, Edwards, Gore, or Clark. I'd love to see Dennis Kucinich as President, but it's not gonna happen after 8 years of BCE fear programming.

I don't like Hillary at all. Being married to a President is not a qualification for being President anymore than being the son of a President is. And look where that got us.

Hillary can't win. Right wing hate radio has branded her as ultra liberal, which she definitely is NOT. And Liberals will never vote for her because she panders to the militaristic corporatist AIPAC/PNAC right wing.

She would be a worse disaster than Judas IsKerryot.

If the BCE decide to run in 2008, Allen will likely be their puppet candidate. So unless you actually like the way things have gone in this country (and in Iraq), you might want to think about that one.

I didn't see a detailed explanation of how they constructed their polls, but for Senators, the voting record was probably a big part of it.

He's of the "Pat Robertson" psychotic wing of the party, if I'm not mistaken. If you're a true moderate Republican, Hagel or Guiliani would be more fitting. I would have also included McCain, if he hadn't spent the last 6 years kissing monkey ass.

Assuming any or all of them actually become candidates, that is.

Like I said, it's a DLC poll. They always try to make their people look more "liberal" when they're vote shopping among the party base.

But I know what Joe Biden represents, and I find it impossible to believe I would agree with him 86% of the time.

I wish they had included Howard Dean in the poll though. I'd bet a lot of people here would find out they agreed with him a lot. :)

This is true. I picked "neither" on a couple of questions, not because I didn't have an opinion on the issue, but because their two options sucked. But this is typical of the DLC, who usually offer you the choice of Republican, or Republican posing as Democrat.

The poll itself isn't on DU, but a DLC employee who posts at DU is the one who linked it there. And he never does anything but push the company line, so to speak.

The DLC has taken over that place, which is why I'm no longer a participating member.

It started with the IsKerryot campaign, and got even worse after that stolen election.

There are people there who literally sit on the board all day just waiting to attack anyone who dares disagree with a single DLC policy or candidate. They have to be interns or paid employees.

Hell, if the real Democratic party paid people to repsond to the BCE like that, I'd be e-mailing my resume to Howard Dean right now.

That's what you mean, right?

No, I meant that a big-time contender for a nomination is of a higher position than the chairman for that particular party.

Nobody will remember Terry McAwful in ten years, but people still will remember Howard Dean for his scream in twenty years.

Even though I think Howard has or had no chance to ever win a general election, I've always believed he had a chance to win the DNC nomination.

They won't remember Terry McUseless, because the guy didn't do anything but sit behind a desk and watch the corporate checks roll in.

Howard Dean, on the other hand, is taking an active role in rebuilding the party structure on the local level in all 50 states. He's carried over his ability from his own campaign to raise money from the people when neccessary. And he's publicly identified election fraud as a real issue, being himself the only person who ever hacked a simulated Diebold tabulator database on live TV. (which was unfortuantely on a little known CNBC show, so it wasn't probably seen by anyone other than Dean supporters. But the video has made its rounds in cyberspace)

If all this work pays off in 2006 and 2008, Howard Dean will definitely be remembered far more that McUseless or most of his predecessors.

Who's Tom Tancredo and should I be afraid that he's on top of my list? I read about Allen before and that worries me because I do not consider myself part of the Pat Robertson crowd.

I didn't like it too much because if I wanted to put down tha I wanted to decrease spending, it was with the raise taxes option, which is not part of my view. I think there should have been 4 options with the 5th as neither.

Yeah, the poll definitely has it's flaws. But as I said before, I suspect that was intentional. The DLC likes to confuse people. It makes their triangulation crap seem more viable that way.
