Tough call between Ministry and Faith No More, but I'll give it to Mike Patton and the boys just because of the video with the flopping fish.

Rollins comes in a close third.

Musically, Savatage's "Gutter Ballet" destroys everything on that list. I own all those albums and they all sound like a pack of amateurs compared to where Savatage was at that time.

Criss Oliva. Can't say it enough.

#1 album of the year for college radio for a reason.

For me Savatage Guitar Bullet is the best one

I stick with four albums for Savatage that are kinda all defining..."Hall of the Mountain King", "Gutter Ballet", "Streets" and "Edge of Thorns"...during that era, they could do no wrong...

The earlier, more metal stuff, though...brilliant...Savatage was able to keep up with any other rock/metal band on the planet. And quite frankly they were better than most of them.

I saw them live in '91 and they remain one of the very best live shows I've ever seen...

I think I must have Suicidal Tendencies' album of that year somewhere...
But once again I clicked on other: The Cult ~ Sonic Temple

It's not exactly heavy metal, but hell, how many cool riffs and true compositions you get in there...
OK, it might not be enough for an explanation, but though I dig that one less than "Electric", I thought it could figure on the list (even if I imagine it's hard to choose just ten).

i went to buy a necrophagist cd the other day at the store, and i saw it for like £5(i saw it said necropha, there was the pice lable covering up the rest,so i though it would be necrophagist).i got it home and took the lable off and it was Necrophagia or some stupid band with phil anselmo on guitar.i was suitably pissed off

I have no idea...

1989 was a terrable year for music, I suppose...

I was playing in a band then, and I was oblivious to what was happening in current music...

Let me do some research...

2. Mr. Big-Mr. Big

Wow that was a choice I spent days over, because I love every fuckin' album on that list.

In the end, I went with Skid Row.

This is such a happy fuckin' rock record that I still isten too all these years on.

I thought they got even better with "Slave to the Grind".
Sebastian Bach's vocals are unbelievable, saw him last year and he owned the stage like no-one I have ever seen, with the exception of DLR.

Have to agree that Badlands were fuckin' killer tho'. I love that album, "High Wire" is an amazing riff.

Fuckin' memories, Ministry, FNM

Don't want to sound like an old fucker, but there just aren't the same calibre of bands anymore.

Only have two of these albums (Skid Row and FNM). I just don't get into Skid Row all that much, I try and try but they just don't get me in the mood that I'm looking for. There's something missing that I just can't pinpoint...
No wait, they're missing David Lee Roth!

Ministry--hands down

However, I almost vomited seeing Ministry being mentioned in the same breath as Skid Mark. Skid Mark--one of the gayest bands this side of Def Leppard.

It was a great year for metal accross the spectrum, I love every album on that list, from the heaviest to the softest!
