Right Said Fred - Up

That's really the only one...got plenty of stuff that isn't rock, or something that one might not think a typical Roth fan would bother with (ABBA, Bee Gees, Duran Duran, Missing Persons...to name a few), but I'm not ashamed of any of that...

I really should just chuck that Right Said Fred cassette, being as I only listened to the one tune, but am hoping in ten years some jackass will pay $300 for it if I auction it on eBay.

WARF

Why did you buy it in the first place?

Terry
05-23-2006, 07:06 PM
Because....

I'm Too Sexy for my shirt

Too Sexy for my shirt

So Sexy It Hurts!!

For the one tune, basically, which I still think was neat in an annoying way.

Hadn't heard that, but I do remember Malcolm McLaren saying that he wanted the Sex Pistols to compete with them.

Just imagine the Sex Pistols with their own Saturday morning kids show.....

Pansy Division "The Essential Pansy Division"

Some guy at work gave it to me saying it was "too heavy" for him and that it might be a bit more "up my street".

Now I can`t give it away.

I put in with my wife`s Bon Jovi CDs so I suppose it`s in good company.

(And it contains less gay tunes).

I'm gonna write hear what I write in all threads of this subject.

There should no such thing as a guilty pleasure or "album your ashamed to own". As far as I'm concerned, there's only 2 kinds of music,

1) Music you like
or
2) Music you don't.

I'm not ashamed of owning any album. I have everything Michael Jackson has ever done, I have (somewhere) "Introducing The Hardline According To...Terence Trent D'arby", I have a bunch of stuff which would be considered a "guilty pleasure". So, sue me. I'm not ashamed to own it. I like it, damn it. That doesn't mean you have to.

I think I'll go and play a MOTOWN CD.

Pansy Division are funny as Hell though. The blatantly gay lyrics can be hard to take at first, but when you look at them in context of a parody of the typical "I'm so macho even though I'm wearing more makeup than Tammy Faye Bakker" hair metal lyric, they make much more sense. And the irony is that there were "straight" bands in the 80's who looked a lot "gayer" than PD.

Here's an example of their humor (and a salute to the Ramones. Joey would have laughed, but I'm not sure about Johnny........)

Rock rock rock rock rock & roll queer bar
Donīt care about heterosexuality
Rock, rock, rock & roll queer bar
Thatīs not what i want to be
Rock rock, rock & roll queer bar
I just wanna have some kicks
I just wanna get some dicks
Rock rock rock rock rock & roll queer bar

Well the boys out there knock me out you know
Rock rock, rock & roll queer bar
Cruisinīaround for a cute homo
Rock rock, rock & roll queer bar
I hate the yuppies and the sweater queens
In their overpriced cars and acid wash jeans
Rock rock rock rock, rock & roll queer bar

And the band has some famous friends too......
http://members.firstinter.net/markster/PROFILES/rob-pansydivision2.jpg

..... Here they are back in 1997 with fellow gay rock stars Gary Cherone (on the left in the red suit) and Rob Halford (with the bald head)

A-fucking-men dude. I mean, hell, I have two Spice Girls albums from when I was in 8th grade, but if I'm in a wacky mood I'll rock out to them. Hell, I have songs on my ipod because they're so out there and dorky. If people want to make fun because I like the old time polkas from where my grandma came from or think less of me cuz I rock out to 50 cent's "If I can't" remixed to the Jungle Book song, then fuck 'em. I think it rocks and I'll rock out to it if I want.

And that song is a trip. It fits perfectly. I laughed so hard when I first heard it. :D
