These people need to be put away.

Journey has no major label and opens for Def Leppard, and can't sell any new CDs except for those with Perry...

Aren't they all fans of Van Hagar already?

Never mind that ...A journey chatboard?I feel ill.I had to look.Like porn.
From the journey chat board.....I listened to Hot for Teacher today...that song rocks harder than anything The Halen put out with Sammy Tequilar... I saw VH with Gary Cherone three times and I thought they were great with him, he had that little mic stand thing (like Freddie Mercury) and would dance around and through EVH's legs and such...saw him jump into the side stage seats once.....especially on the Diamond Dave stuff like Meanstreets...

I'll bet every last one of those pussies think Journey "improved" when Jonathan Cain joined the band.

Yeah, well, I suppose I can't bitch about Journey too much, as I caved and am taking the missus to see them next month...

Journey and Def Leppard...

I suppose the upside is that I will probably know most if not all the songs played by both groups...

The downside is THINKING about some of those songs I'm likely to hear...

Am tempted to bring a laser pointer and blind Vivian Campbell on principle, since he has been an utter waste of a talent since he left Dio.

They're all pro Hagar because of his connection to Neal Schon. That's all.

Any Journey fan who tells you otherwise is full of shit.

Awful....

Journey had a few moments I enjoyed, but on an overwhelming note, no.

I hear Sammy Hagar fans love 'em, though...

Hell, I might as well sign Journey to my label; it's the best offer they're likely to get anytime soon... :D

I will say this...Steve Perry had a great voice back in the day, honestly. No bullshit about the music or whatever, but in all honesty Steve had a really awesome range.

Don't know if he still does or not, but that boy could belt a tune with the best of them.

That's true, but you can't polish turds, and most of their songs were turds....

bueno bob

Well, yeah.

But I'll give due credit, Steve Perry had a set of lungs on him. No denying that.

Early Journey was great.. Some of their albums sat right along my Van Halen ones.. Without Steve Perry it just does not work.. I mean the new guy "Whatever the fuck his name is" sounds just like Steve but it just is not the same.. Atleast in my book..

It's the Ripper Owens syndrome.

You can clone the singer and some of the fans might come, but there's just no beating the real thing, and everybody knows it.

Well, except for Van Halen, apparently.

True 'dat

clone singers never work...

Ian Astbury/Doors

Ripper Owens/Judas Priest

Steve Augeri/Journey

Michale Graves/The Misfits

Lawrence Gowan/Styx

Christian Linderson/Saint Vitus

...the list just goes on and on...

Who has a pic of that sign on Van Halen's backstage door which said: No Virgins, sheep or Journey fans allowed!

Steve Perry was an excellent singer. No doubt. Didn't care for much of Journey's stuff, but I never thought the guy sucked - just that the material wasn't really to my tastes...

As far the guy who replaced him, I've only heard/seen a few brief snippets on tv, but he sounded okay from what I remember...

I'll give a review of the show, and am sure you'll all be anticipating the review much like I'm anticipating going to the show:rolleyes:

Well, truth be told, I am remotely interested. Last I heard of Journey, they had "Suzanne" in the set list (which is a personal song for me...long story that goes back to at least '87, so don't ask) and Deen Castronovo was singing it.

Deen lives local to me, and I wrote some lyrics for him ages ago...so I'm kinda curious, because I've heard he sounds almost exactly like Steve Perry...

Yeah, fill me in for sure.

Wasn't there some incident when some one from Van Halen got into it with Neil Schon from Journey and was joking about almost making him cry.. They were playing a venue with several other bands as well..

Anyone remember this and have more details on it?

As I remember that story , it was involving Steve Perry . And yes he apparently started tearing up or crying when he was yelled at by a member of the VH camp!

Fuckin hilarious !

Probably either Alex who said it, cause know Dave would find a more creative way to say it and Alex wouldn't take no shit back then.
