Ronnie Wood is understood to have entered rehab after he began drinking again, throwing the European leg of the Rolling Stones tour into further trouble.

The guitarist is understood to have quit alcohol on the advice of doctors some time ago, but is now reported to have fallen off the wagon.

The news comes just a month before the Stones kick off their Bigger Bang Euro dates, many of which had been delayed and postponed following the accident involving Keith Richards.

Richards has made a full recovery following brain surgery after his fall from a coconut tree in Fiji. However, Wood this week apparently checked himself into the Priory clinic in London.

A "friend" told London paper The Sun: "Ronnie has fought a long battle with drink. He managed to keep his boozing down to a minimum while the Stones were playing their American dates at the end of last year. The first gig in Boston was the first time he had played sober and without a cigarette for the first time in years. But he has started drinking again over the last few weeks and it has got out of control. The stress of worrying about his mate Keith has not helped."

Meanwhile, a spokesman for Ronnie commented: "He needs some rest but he will definitely be fit for the first night of the European tour."

The Rolling Stones are scheduled to restart their world tour in Milan, Italy on July 11.

Hey Eddie...Can't you hear the knockin'!

Doctors advised good Ronnie to stop drinking - and taking drugs - but first his own children went to see Mick Jagger to ask him to talk to Ron about his "problem" (playing with the Faces for years, hey! no miracle...) because they couldn't convince him themselves.

I suppose that Ronnie's health is at stake, but is a Stone on alcohol that shocking? :D

That said, you're right, Doc: if a Stone can do it (at least for a while), why not Ed VH?

Damn....That stinks....It's too bad Ronnie can't just be his old-time happy drinker self, and not let it get too crazed.

Didn't he almost sink his boat awhile back?

He did some of his best drunkwork on old Faces stuff.

Get it together Woodrow!

Wood's been a binger of all sorts of shit for years...

He was almost dumped from the band during their Tattoo You tour because he couldn't stop freebasing, and the dude was coked out for pretty much all of the 1980s...

But it's Woody, you know? So what if he's drinking to excess? God forbid if the Rolling Stones are the slightest bit decadent - plus, Richards is a boozehound himself (anyone else thinking the guy was shitfaced when he climbed that tree?).

The Stones are so fucking past it anyways.

Whatever.

Best wishes to Wood, in any event.

Woody was so out of control during that Tattoo You Tour, that the Stones were auditioning George Thorogood to replace him, since George was their opening act for a lot of the tour.....

True. And Mick Taylor showed up for the Kansas City show on that same tour. You gotta wonder if the Glimmer Twins were holding that over Woody's head.

Get it together Woody.... you're still the youngest (official) member of this band. Don't want to die before them, do ya?
