I was NEVER a "DIEHARD" Van Halen Fan. I like VH, both Eras, had a few CDs but never seen them in concert.
During the Sam and Dave Tour, me and my buddy decided to Go because he was a HUGE DLR fan, so i was like ok, we'll chill out and relax and drink while listening to Sammy, and then we'll Tear the Fuckin place apart with Dave................so I thought.

Dave come out first and the place went crazy....for about the first song. By the middle of the second song, everyone was pretty much sitting down. We sat there and just kinda waited for DLR to kick it in, but it never happend. After the set was done, we were all like what the fuck was that. My friend was like bumbed out and embarrassed because he kept Pumping me up about Dave because I had never seen him live. So I'm like, Dude don't worry about it, people age, this isnt the 80's anymore....Lets just go get us a beer kick back and listen to Sammy then we'll hit the titty bar on the way home.

Well Sammy comes out and Tears the place apart, fuck'n absolutely Rocked the place. Everyone was on the feet the entire show, Sammy put on the ultimate show. I was totally shocked because I thought it was going to be the other way around. Sam buried Dave and this is coming from a guy who went to the show as Neutral....Didnt care either way.

After the show, i begin looking into Hagar's music more, since he left VH, and become a Sammy Hagar Fan. So yeah I was hoping he would someday re-unite with Van Halen because by Judging by the two performances I thought he would be the better choice, but I in no way ever insulted bashed or wish Death on anyone who was a DLR fan. I come here to read up on what people thought about the Reunion and I see these pathetic posts about sammy and sammy fans

I see where you are going, but couldnt you also chalk it up to it not selling out, but having a different singer with different writing styles?

I mean it doesnt matter what lead singer VH could have gotten, they were not going to be the same band, same type of songs, etc...that they were with DLR.....I dont see it as selling out as much as i see it altering the style to fit a new singer

When they got Hagar it was not the music that sold. Anything would've sold at that time. (A chart would reveal a steady decline with each release.) They were riding on the momentum that they created after "1984".

After "1984", instead of creating or expanding on what made them unique, the opted to apply their sound to very formulatic, typical, cliche songs.

Wow what a great post. "Van Halen" is so much a business now, more than it's ever been. They are NOT doing this for the love of music because if they did they would have gotten Roth back and done the kick-ass songs. You know what? People like Jagger and Richards, Tyler and Perry who don't like each other will work with each other on stage because their love of music supersedes their animosity towards each other. They respect each other's work and enjoy making good music and art despite the differences. Not so with Ed. He may not like Sam, but he hates Roth even more and he knows that Sambo will just be his bitch. There's no artistry or creativity here, if there was there'd be a new album and new songs. Nope, they're going to play out-dated synth ballads...how pathetic is that?!

I think Hagar fans hate Dave as their jealous that when Roth was with Halen, he took them to the top. Then Hagar joined, and he took them back down and messed everything up for them.
