I thought since we had a thread going about the new Maiden artwork, I'd get one going about which is best/worst.

I always hated this cover for some reason....

SIT has been my personal favourite, because in my teens we would get high and look for cool shit to find on the back of the LP, the small really detailed shit, after smoking a quarter of hash it was pretty fun, lol....

Killers is the best

Killers was and is definitely my favorite. I had a great poster of it when I was a teenager. Dance of Death really does nothing for me... Always enjoy their artwork though.. Props to them for keeping it around..

"Somewhere in time" is my favourite for pretty much the same reason as Full Bug.

"The original artwork for "No prayer for the dying" really sucked. It`s hard to believe that it was drawn by the same guy. A scribbled Eddie strangles a comic book styled grave digger. Yuck! They`ve changed it slightly on the remastered CD but it`s still crap.

My problem with the new album cover art is that Eddie is not the focus.

He's in the background.


As far as my fave Maiden album cover: I'd go with Killers.

Its awesome, classic, the best Eddie has looked.

The worst? I'd say its a toss up between X-Factor and Dance of Death.

Its interesting how all the Maiden covers started to suck when Derek Riggs stopped doing the artwork for them.

The reason I like the new artwork is because its provocative...

There is nothing PC about Maiden, they are still the band that pissed your parents off!

I mean...is the new artwork really that provocative? Are skeletons really that big a deal today? When you look at Eddie on the Killers cover, with that bloody axe, you figure that's violent and edgy.....A bunch of skeleton soldiers who really aren't that edgy, isn't going to rile up many parents.....

Yeah...I wish I knew what went down between camp Riggs and camp Maiden...because I'd love to see things smoothed over for a Derek Riggs return on the last ever album or whatnot...whenever that happens...
