Have been a member for close to a year, and I must say I am very pleased with their service.
Had been totally unsatisfied with the selections at Hollywood video and Blockbuster for years, and most of the Mom and Pop stores I used to dig have went out of business. Plus, with many of the Hollywoods and BBs slowly phasing out their VHS selections, a fan of older titles is pretty much fucked when it comes to many movies made before 1990, unless they did well at the box office, because
a) It can take a while for many of these older films to be updated to dvd, if they are at all -
b) VHS tapes are going the way of the dinosaur anyway, so I'm trying to avoid BUYING VHS movies, thus the fact that the major chains are liquidating their VHS catalogs mainly by selling them out of the store (even dirt cheap) is of little comfort.
c) The big rental stores just don't have that many selections - I haven't been very enthused with the crap that's been coming out of La-La land for closing in on a decade now, so I could really give a fuck if there are 100 copies of the latest Adam Sandler suckfest available.
Netflix has about 50,000 titles to choose from. $10 a-month-one-at-a-time-unlimited is averaging me about 6 movies a month in the time it takes for Netflix to send me a flick, me to watch it, and mail it back to them.
They've got all the newer titles, plus a TON of obscure shit, all on dvd.
Tonight's movie: Billy Jack Goes To Washington.
Next selection: Reform School Girls, starring Sybil Danning and Wendy O' Williams.
