Grandmother gives birth to her grandson

I wonder if this was the WIFE'S idea?!?

Remember that old song, I'm My Own Grandpa? Well, this isn't quite as convoluted, but I think that Syrus Sonny Singh could claim to be his own uncle, at the very least. His genetic grandmother, 54-year-old Ruby Tejwani, acted as his surrogate mother, carrying the baby conceived with an egg and sperm from Tejwani's daughter and son-in-law.

Sapna Singh, the genetic mother, has lupus, an autoimmune disease that prevented her from carrying a baby to term. So, when she and her husband, Sonny, were looking for a surrogate, she volunteered. Using hormone shots to reverse her menopause, Tejwani started something she hadn't done in 26 years. Dr. Damon Masaki, a maternal fetal medicine specialist, told her, "Don't worry, your womb will remember."

Remember it did. Due to her age, however, Tejwani's blood pressure rose, prompting doctors to deliver the baby a month early. Both grandmother and baby were fine, however. "It was very emotional when he came out," said Sapna Singh, 31. "I thought he was beautiful, just gorgeous, perfect." Her mother agrees. "He's so cute. I love him," she declared.

I know that these days, grandparents (and even great-grandparents) often take on significant roles in raising their grandkids, but I have to say, I think this definitely qualifies as going way above and beyond the call of duty. Kudos to Tejwani and congratulations to the whole family!

That is some strange, weird shit there! So the donor mother is the surrogate mother's daughter, which makes the baby both the donor mother's son and brother at the same time! That baby is gonna be so confused when he gets older! I can hear it now, "Momma Granny!", "Sister Momma!", "Brother-In-Law Daddy!"

At school: "My granny's also my momma, and my momma's my sister!"

          L.O.L.

          But I wonder...
In the case of a surrogate that has no connection whatshowever with the family, does the child gets to know her and be confused like that?
          I dunno...

There's no confusion. His mother is his mother and his grandmother is his grandmother. His mother is not his sister. Grandma just carried him, she didn't contribute any genetic material (other than what came from her daughter).

Well, but still his grandmother is his mother.

The baby is not being born in a test tube.

Though we do have one of those test-tube babies running our country right now....

Oh come now, you gotta give scientists more credit than THAT. Surely if given the opportunity to selectively breed a human of their choice, they wouldn't come up with W.

While that may be true about the genetics equation, the fact remains that the baby developed inside of granny's womb, and granny gave birth to the baby, which also technically makes the grandmother also his mother. Since granny gave birth to this child through the same birth canal that mother was brought into the world through, and mother developed in the same womb, this also technically makes this baby's mother also his sister! Goddamn this is about some twilight zone weird shit! lol

Yeah, I believe they could would have used a better sperm sample for W and collected the semen that ran down George H.W.'s leg, since that's what happened to the best part of W!
