It's pretty strange, I don't ever recall a storm this bad this early. I have very little snow right where I live, but Buffalo and parts north have eight to 12 inches of snow, downed power lines from wet snow, and the I90 is backed up and closed in parts...
A State of Emergency has been declared. I know this is Buffalo, but snow like this is highly unusual before Thanksgiving, or at least until after Halloween.

Oct 13, 2006 - Winter arrived early and violently in Western New York with a strange, ever changing blend of snow, sleet, hail, wind and rain. Although the slushy snow is a hindrance, the real trouble is from fallen trees and power lines tangled in the debris. Nearly 150,000 households in the region are without power.
Many area municipalities have declared states of emergency or travel bans as of 12:30 a.m.
