I've been waiting for almost 10 years for this concert @ the Hardrock in Orlando on Wednesday night. They opened with Again, played every song I wanted to hear, sat down for a lengthy acoustic set, and just basically burned down the place.

The new singer was laid back, played guitar pretty well, and harmonized perfectly with Jerry. Cantrell demonstrated that he was still a serious bad-ass, and Mike Inez was so happy he looked like he was about to get married.

Don't miss it.

Funny...I just listened to "Dirt" today for the first time in ages.

Damn near every song was a hit when it was released!

There is no AIC without Layne.

Good thing they reunited to satisfy the fans but without Layne there is just half Cantrell and the rest and that makes only 50%. AIC FOREVER !

Wish I could catch 'em in DETROIT

Would you like them to tour with a corpse?

Some people weren't fortunate enough to see him when that guy was still living.

I haven't read a single bad review of this line up.

I was very, very cynical when I heard about it - to me Layne was the soul of AIC- but it looks like they can still pull it off.

A new record will be the clincher...

Missing Layne kinda removed the real importance of the gig and made it seem like a nostalgia trip. But when the intro of Rain When I Die is making the hair on your neck stand-up, you tend to forget about the details.

And honestly, without knowing too much about exactly what happened to Layne in his life, I think he was a selfish, lazy, drug-addicted prick. He made AIC, and then took it from us.

I would give almost anything to have what he had and he threw it away.

Layne was an addict and he could kick it - don't know if that makes him selfish or just unfortunate.

But he was one of the best singers of the 90's!

AIC is one of my influnces as a writer fo' sure ...

That whole Dirt album Cantrell used 5150's that Ed gave Jerry while opening for Halen the tour before ...

Facelift changed grunge ...

How the hell do you know. You were still shitting your pants when they released their last studio album.

It's good not to comment on things you know nothing about.

Thanks.

off the top of my head:

Whale and Wasp (recorded intro)

Again
Bleed the Freak
It Ain't Like That
We Die Young
Junkhead
Heaven Beside You
Nutshell
Grind

Acoustic Set:
one that I forget
Brother
Down in a Hole I think
shit I forget the rest

electric:
Sludge Factory (BADASSED)
Them Bones
Damn that River
Rain When I Die
Man in the Box
Angry Chair

that's all I can remember right now.

I had to leave before the encore because I had to drive back to Tampa and actually work in the morning (as opposed to just going to work).

They played pretty much every song I wanted to hear. I would bet that Would? was in the encore, and I'd bet that Over Now wasn't.

The three songs right after the acoustic set were the highlight for me.

They probably video taped the show. While I was at the bar in the venue they had a video loop and it was showing a vid of the Black Crowes playing Hard to Handle that I've never seen. And it had a Hardrock logo on the bottom corner.

I do need one of these shows though. I have a show from this year in Finland or some shit and they opened with Sludge Factory. And I heard reports that they opened with Sludge Factory earlier in the summer.

Man that song kicks ass.

Sludge Factory is sooooo underrated.

Best song on that record, although "Over Now" runs it close....

Damn! I missed them when they played the HOB in Hollywood (Ca)... I hope they come back, I have to see these guys! Every song on that setlist kick major ass! Layne will be missed but just hearing those songs with the rest of the band will have to do!

They do a lengthy Layne tribute on the video screen whilst setting up the little drum set and candles and what not for the acoustic set.

I was just listening to the one show I have from the 96 tour... U of Kentucky opening for Kiss. Sludge Factory kicks ass on there too.

I have high hopes for their new record.

Hope Jerden ends up producing and they don't try and copy Layne (or it won't work).

They could still do twisted melodies but in a new way.

Here's to the future of a great band...

Great find ODS! ...

As for the new album I've always thought this ... Cantrell is as much if not better defining who are AIC ... his riffs are what legends are made of ...

The new guy puts in some great twists on some of the old harmonies.

He doesn't have the superstar spark though.

Agreed, the monstrous riffs...

AND the incredible harmonies between Jerry and Layne.
