Yes there was a time when Rap auctually did have meaning and wasn't just about Guns, Ho's, and Money...

There was auctually some thought put into it...A comparison to possibly 70's era punk, in sense of attitude..

Anyways, Here is Grandmaster Flash "The Message" a pretty good song..

Blondie was really the first one to get a rap type song played on MTV....

Fucking scary as hell to hear this song attempted to be played as Muzak at The local Supermarket over here..sorta pissed me off...

Someone dubbed the original tune over the video, becasue the video was the "clean" version when it aired on MTV, obviously.

Love those guys though. That album, As Nasty As They Wanna Be, is great! Funny as hell.

                      Hey baby,
                      Music needs open minds.

Well fuck, doesn't Dave have a varied music influence and aren't Ed and Alex classically trained musicians? Classic VH isn't one of those bands who came together and said: Only metal influences us and no other music! You are not worthy if you follow outside of that realm! AAAUUURRRGHHH!!!

Otherwise its hards to recognize the good quality

I listen to all forms of music and can recognize
when an artist is talented at that genre, even if
I dont personally like that style of music.

But Rap, (to me) is basically black street talk
recorded to repetitous drum machine loops...
Hey, if that rocks your boat, buy one of those

I depends. 90% of it is shit. But you do have the guys who were innovators, who did more than just rhyme over a ripped off riff, and also had either some social commentary or humour for the listener.
